A fatal collision between a factory shuttle bus and a school transport bus left one woman dead and 28 people injured in Ban Khai district, Rayong province, on October 28, 2025. The crash occurred on Highway 3143in Nong Lalok subdistrict, when the two vehicles collided.

Police from Ban Khai Station, led by Pol. Lt. Satawat Phuparat, arrived with rescue workers from the Sawang Porakun Foundation and medical staff from Ban Khai Hospital. They found the school bus, used to transport students of Nikhom Pittaya School for the first day of term, damaged at the front and side. The driver, identified as Mrs. Wasana, 60, was found dead behind the wheel.

23 students, boys and girls, were injured, with one reported in serious condition, after falling from the bus and being dragged along the road. Rescuers quickly transferred the victims to Ban Khai Hospital, while the critically injured student was sent to Rayong Hospital for further treatment.

Nearby, officers discovered the factory shuttle bus, also damaged down the side. The bus driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Five factory workers on board sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical care.

Initial police findings suggest that the school bus pulled out from a side road without stopping or sufficient caution, directly into the path of the oncoming bus, resulting in the collision. Authorities recorded evidence, interviewed witnesses and collected CCTV footage from nearby locations to confirm the exact sequence of events, as the investigation continues.

Key Takeaways

• A school transport bus and factory bus collided in Rayong, killing the 60-year-old van driver.

• Twenty-eight people were injured, including 23 students and 5 factory workers.

• Police believe the school bus entered the main road without stopping, causing the crash.

The schoolbus??? even animals are being transported better. How safe can kids be in a pick up with a roof sitting on benches that are gliding up and down as they are not fastened in any way, and the pickup filled with 28 kids... Travel safety is not in Thailand for school busses, and accidents like this are happening many times. When is there some care for the kids?

I have to agree. They load the kids in like a can of sardines with no protection or safety measures used. This is the main reason i never let my kids use school transportation and i always drive them myself to school

I only see one bus....  so were the school kids on the real bus or sardined into the back of a converted pick-up?

Surely that pick up is not the 'bus' 28 students were 'in' ? how is that even legal ? just another bad driver, who RIP couldn't see a BIG bus coming, but I suppose on the second day off school they will just use another pick up or even the same one....

Sardined.  The drivers I think probably get paid per student so take it from there.  In our area they us a big 5 ton or the schools have vans.

In the back of a songtaew there is no restraint and as we all know the idea is to hang on the back.  They work in Pattaya and with adults but cramming kids is dangerous.

You do not see the child being dragged behind the songtow crammed with other kids screaming? Look at the damage to the bus?

Well, well, well, what a big mouth you have again. May I remind you that there are no school buses in the Netherlands at all. That's where you're from, isn't it?

Why not?
You can act like a big shot here, but is it much better in your own country?
