A Chinese man, Huang Qingqing, was apprehended by immigration police at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok on October 29. Huang, aged 55, is believed to be the mastermind behind a series of high-profile robberies targeting luxury homes in the Min Buri and Bang Chan areas of Bangkok. His arrest follows two major theft incidents connected to his gang, which were reported in April.

The first of these robberies took place at a judge’s residence in Min Buri, where Huang and an accomplice entered the property late at night. Despite being interrupted by the awake homeowner, they managed to flee with cash and a mobile phone. Identified as the gang's leader, Huang managed to escape Thailand on the day of the incident, prompting authorities to issue an arrest warrant and anticipate his eventual return.

Upon his return to Bangkok Airport on October 29, Huang was immediately taken into custody, although he denied all charges. Authorities suspect his involvement in another burglary in the Bang Chan district, where a safe was looted of assets worth over 10 million baht. Further questioning is planned to ascertain Huang's full involvement in these crimes, and no further arrests related to his associates have been made so far.

This arrest follows another incident earlier this month at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, where two Chinese nationals were caught for a separate series of burglaries resulting in damages exceeding 1 million baht. The cases highlight ongoing concerns about organized criminal activities involving foreign nationals within Bangkok.

Key Takeaways

  • A Chinese man, implicated in major Bangkok robberies, was arrested at the airport.
