Police in Krabi, on 3 November 2025, arrested 41-year-old Wiwat, also known as “Bang-En,” on 3 November 2025, in connection with the killing of a father and his one-year-old daughter and the serious injury of the mother. The suspect had been on the run for four months and was found hiding in a goat pen within a palm oil plantation in Khao Kram, Mueang Krabi District. Authorities seized multiple weapons including a homemade .22 rifle, a shotgun, 9mm ammunition and methamphetamine tablets.

The attack occurred on 1 July 2025 in Moo 1, Ko Lanta Noi Subdistrict. Wiwat reportedly fired a 9mm pistol at the victims’ home, first shooting three rounds, leaving, then returning to fire an additional eight rounds. The victims, father Apiwat (37) and daughter Nichariny (1), were killed, while mother Sudarat (28) was seriously injured. The dispute was reportedly over a bird and a cow, which led to a heated argument before the shooting.

Investigators from Regional Investigation Division 8 and Ao Nang Police Station tracked the suspect to relatives’ property in Khao Kram, where he was captured. Records indicate Wiwat had previously served three prison terms, including two for drug offences and one for homicide in Phang Nga Province and had been released about a year ago.

Authorities confirmed the suspect is now in custody and will be prosecuted at Ko Lanta Police Station. The case highlights ongoing concerns over violent disputes escalating into lethal incidents in local communities. Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack and any wider implications for public safety in Krabi Province.
