Bangkok police have arrested a 35-year-old French national accused of repeatedly stealing property from passengers at Don Mueang International Airport. Surveillance footage allegedly showed the suspect posing as a traveller and targeting unattended bags. Despite being caught under a court-issued warrant, the suspect has denied the charges.

Under the direction of Pol Maj Gen Kiattikul Sonthinen, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2 and Pol Col Phuwadol Unpho, Don Mueang Police Superintendent, a team tracked and detained Mr David, a French citizen, on 8 November 2025 in front of a hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 97 in Bangkok’s Phra Khanong district. The arrest followed an outstanding warrant issued by the Criminal Court on 31 October 2025 for theft within an airport during nighttime hours.

Police said that between September and October, multiple thefts were reported inside Don Mueang Airport, prompting a dedicated investigation led by Don Mueang police detectives. The suspect was identified through extensive CCTV footage, which showed him entering the terminal from the Red Line train connection, initially carrying only one backpack. He was later seen moving through various areas, observing unattended bags, placing his own nearby and seizing valuables when the owners were not watching.

Following the thefts, investigators believe the suspect sold the stolen items to second-hand shops around Bangkok. Due to being a foreigner, the shops reportedly showed little suspicion. He then converted the proceeds into euros and transferred the money into his personal bank account. Officers suspect he committed similar crimes in other locations beyond the airport.

When confronted at the hotel, the suspect admitted to being the individual named in the arrest warrant but denied any wrongdoing. Police took him to Don Mueang Police Station for further questioning and legal proceedings. Authorities are reviewing additional CCTV evidence to determine the full extent of his criminal activity.

Funding his stay in Thailand.. next flight back to France with a 10 year ban

Off topic posts breaking forum rules removed.

Hopefully not breaking any rules but probably just echoing what other people are thinking what a POS this guy is wherever he is from.

Can't afford to be here then he shouldn't be, a rough stay in an IDC with the roughest toughest kathoey on the block that he becomes his play thing a few litres of fish head soup cattle class back to France a 10 year ban and good riddance (think I've stuck to Rule 15 there :)

Seems its the French week in Thailand now. They doing illegal things all over Thailand now.

During period of stolen unattended bags ( stolen from arrival belts before actual owners cleared immigration ) there would be a baggage check with the baggage stubs to the baggage  before exit . This was done in china once a while to discourage baggage theft.

A break for the Brits take it where we can 🤣

Don’t know how this idiot thinks he can claim himself not guilty when all the evidence is there to see on cctv. Good luck getting a lawyer who believes you, mug.

This incident also highlights how easy it is for somebody to walk into domestic arrival baggage reclaim in Don Mueang without being challenged. I’m sure he’s not the only PoS who’s been doing it either.
The airport authority needs to address this  loophole. Security is paramount to stop this and letting scumbags like him give the airport a bad name.

Section 335 of the Criminal Code, penalises nighttime theft with one to five years in prison and fines from 20,000 to 100,000 baht.

The reward should be:

3 years prison and a 50,000bt fine paid BEFORE deported, also a LIFETIME ban.

Competition is getting tough by the day.

It will be difficult to accuse the Russians,  Chinese, Indians and the like at the drop of a hat in the future!

By definition, there won't be any LBs in the Immigration Detention Centre; no detention facilities anywhere in Thailand serve "fish head soup" and he'll go back to France by whatever class ticket he pays for, IDC does not arrange his flight home but what's wrong with Economy, anyway?

Defence lawyers don't have to believe their clients, they just have to persuade the Judges to believe them, that's their job.

It was not reported that he was thieving from the domestic arrival baggage reclaim!

Why?  You think that a potential five year stretch and B100K fine is too much?

I am sure he just took the things to protect them from being stolen and he was just safe keeping them....not

Could be worse he could get sent back to Liverpool oops Rule 15 😉

I'm not sure he has walked into baggage reclaim area.

Looks like he is wondering around the terminal looking for suitcases being left unattended, eg when someone pops into the toilet, or is ordering food, or lying down etc
