If he runs for president, he may offer some ideas. But right now he's only a governor.

Probably not any ideas that would offend the Socialist though LOL

Because Obamacare is a socialist program?

That makes even less sense then normal for you.

Talkin to the ladies on the View panel , Fetterman just summed up the Leaderless Dem party political aspirations .

Its a story based on a Yahoo news report

It figures that you watch the view.

Gladys Kravitz is the person you most remind me of.

As per usual you provide no reasoning or evidence.

So this kind of talk doesn't mean that Josh Shapiro hates America?

It means he's a politician talking to his voter base.

Ok, that's good. Really good. A cryptic reference, that people of a certain age who watched reruns after school in the 80's and 90's will remember, although I see it is now available on Roku.  I bet most people won't get it, which makes the reference even cooler.

Tres cool.

So, whatever a politician says in public , we should discount it because it can be dismissed or minimized as "speaking to his [or hers] voter base". MInd-reading much?

Not exactly. However, politician often make statements tailored for their support base and that are crafted to obtain attention. It is a reality of the political world. I am neither excusing nor justifying the behavior.

It's not a matter of excusing or justifying it. It's a ploy from you to dismiss it as  being merely performative.

Newsom needs to start being a governor again. He is too busy cosplaying at President while his state suffers.  What has he done to alleviate homelessness, addiction, the price of gas, the high speed rail boondoggle, helping victims of the Palisades fire to rebuild their homes?

Jack squat, that's what he has done.

And we should take your word for this why?

Perhaps you could regale us with all the things the good governor has done to alleviate any/all of those issues...

I will help with a couple.  For victims of the fires last winter, only 10% have had building permits issued so that they can begin to rebuild. Local and state regulations and red tape is preventing them from even starting to rebuild their lives.

The high speed rail link from San Francisco to LA is an utter disaster. It has been 17 years, and one short section may, just may, open in 2033. And the cost has tripled in that time to an estimated $100 billion.

Good start?

The governor doesn't have control over local regulations. And localities are imposing much stiffer standards.

As for the California High Speed Rail Project...I'm glad you brought that up. Certainly, the chief executive deserves much of the blame:

State regulations on pollution and ecology combine with local regs in gumming up the works for building permits. It is an unholy combo of incompetence at both levels.

By the time Trump rightly pulled the funding, the high speed rail project was already a disaster. I am sure you have heard of the concept of "throwing good money after bad"?  The thing was supposed to be FINISHED in 2020.

I guess as far as the state regs go do you have a problem with build back better? And you forgot to mention that FEMA also has rules. And the articles I've read overwhelmingly place the responsibility at the local level.

Newsom inherited the project when he became governor in  2019. But if you assign responsibility for it not being completed, the lion's share of that belongs to Trump.

Newsom was the Lt Governor when the project got started. He knew about it, was involved, and was part of the state government that implemented it. He didn't walk in blind in 2019 and say "oh dear, what on earth is happening?"

The biggest problem was changing the route to inland from the coastline. Well, actually the biggest problem was the whole project. Nobody wanted it, there was little in the way of needs assessment, it was just a big honey pot for politicians to dip into and reward their friends with juicy government contracts. Those billions could have gone to helping addicts and homelessness, but no. A Big Flashy Project was more important.

Not completed? It hasn't even started yet. The earliest estimate for any track to be usable is 2032, and that is a stretch in the desert between Nowheresville and WhoCares.

We can just disregard that guy, as we can do with Trump. The latest I read this morning was 33% approval rating. Goes well for your hero, duh!

After that, you guys will do as usual. You just going to blame the dems for this too, as you are so much in love with Trump, that you miss to see that it´s your own people leaving, which is the real cause for the drop. Have a happy day! Sweet Dreams!

I don't watch the View ! Some of my people do though.

These people have a vested interest, keeping America out of the hands of far left extremists.

Just saw The View episode where Marjorie Taylor Greene was the guest. She said some surprisingly popular things, and the hosts were respectful. No overtalking, no bickering. A polite but pointed discussion.

Then, I saw the after-show bit were the producer talks to the hosts. They all suddenly started backstabbing MTG, bad mouthing her, etc. Basically saying things they were too scared to say to her face. It was rather disappointing.

Jack squat, that's what he has done.

Let's ask A.I. shall we?

Governor Newsom has focused on investing in homelessness programs, creating a new wildfire fund to help with rebuilding, and working on addiction and high-speed rail projects, though the latter faces criticism for cost and delays.. For addiction, he has supported treatment programs.

  • Homelessness
  • Newsom has invested billions of dollars in programs to address homelessness and create housing.
  • Funding: He has awarded millions of dollars to communities to address encampments and provide housing.
  • Addiction
  • The governor has supported programs and initiatives to treat addiction, with the state investing billions of dollars in programs .

Price of Gas

  • Newsom has supported efforts to lower gas prices, such as a state gas tax holiday and price gouging investigations.
  • He has also supported state-level investments in renewable energy and electric vehicles to reduce California's dependence on fossil fuels.
  • High-speed rail
  • Critics argue that the project is a "boondoggle" due to its high cost and delays but The Newsom administration has highlighted progress on the project, such as laying track and building structures.
  • Palisades fire victims
  • Newsom signed a $2.5 billion bipartisan relief package to help Los Angeles recover from the firestorm. The state released $101 million to help rebuild affordable multifamily rental housing in the fire-devastated Los Angeles region. The state has dedicated funds to accelerate the development of affordable multifamily rental housing, and prioritize projects that can be built quickly.
