Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited soldiers injured in a landmine explosion near the Cambodia border. Sergeant Major First Class Thirdsak Samapong and Private Wachira Phantana were injured while on patrol on November 10. The incident led PM Anutin to suspend a peace declaration with Cambodia.

Thaim authorities believe the landmines were recently planted, as the patrol route was previously free of explosives. During his visit, Anutin offered support, emotionally wiping away tears while speaking with Thirdsak, who lost his right leg and has undergone surgeries. Assuring support, he told the soldier he could return to service after recovery.

Anutin also met with troops at the Phu Makhuea Operations Base to encourage them. This incident prompted a suspension of the peace declaration signed in Malaysia on October 26, under US President Trump's oversight. Emphasizing sovereignty, PM Anutin stated, "Thailand belongs to us... What we have agreed on to move forward towards peace has now ended."

The Royal Thai Armed Forces, in response to the incident, is waiting for governmental instructions but stresses their readiness. The explosion has stirred regional concerns and might affect diplomatic interactions with Cambodia. Military officials warn that the situation demands careful navigation to prevent escalation.

Looking ahead, Thailand’s government will take autonomous actions without external negotiations. The focus will be on assessing security measures along the border to protect its territory and soldiers, while reconsidering agreements with Cambodia. Further governmental actions and defense strategies are expected to unfold in the coming weeks.

Key Takeaways

  • Thailand’s PM suspended a peace declaration with Cambodia following a landmine incident.
  • The injured soldiers received assurances of support as border security tightens.
  • The military awaits official directives, ready to protect Thailand's sovereignty.

Sad for him to need to do that. Cambodia should know their place, and don´t pick a fight they can´t win. Born losers will always be losers.

Get it on the right track and make a parking lot out of the country. They deserve it!

I think the Chinese might have something to say that. They basically own Cambodia.

What ever happened to the anti mine footwear that Thaskin was getting for the troops?

Does this affect next year's Nobel Peace Prize winner?
