A man attempting to pawn fake gold at a shop in Udon Thani died after a gunfight with the store owner ended in his apparent suicide. The confrontation took place around 17:00 on 11 November 2025 at a gold shop in the Wua Khong Market area, Ban Lueam Subdistrict, Mueang District. Police said the suspect, aged 51, sustained a gunshot wound to the left shoulder before turning his weapon on himself.

Police identified the deceased as Mr Sakda, a 51-year-old resident of Tao Hai Subdistrict, Phen District, Udon Thani. Officers arriving at the scene found him slumped in a red chair inside the shop, with a 9 mm Taurus G3 pistol beside his hand. He had suffered two gunshot wounds, one to the left shoulder and another to the right temple. A white Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck, registration from Chanthaburi, was parked outside and later confirmed to be his vehicle.

According to police and witness statements, Mr Sakda had entered the shop trying to pawn a gold necklace he said he had received from another person. The shop owner inspected the item and discovered it was counterfeit, declining to accept it. At that point, Mr Sakda allegedly drew a handgun and demanded 200,000 baht in cash. The owner pretended to comply, went to the back of the shop to call the police and armed himself with a revolver for self-defence.

When the owner returned, the suspect noticed the weapon and a gunfight ensued. The shop owner’s bullet struck Mr Sakda in the shoulder before he activated an automatic door lock, trapping the injured man inside. Realising he could not escape, the suspect reportedly shot himself in the temple and died at the scene. CCTV footage captured eight gunshots during the incident, consistent with the owner’s account provided to investigators.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Supachai Luealon of Mueang Udon Thani Police said initial findings indicated the suspect had acted alone and was previously known to the shop as a regular customer. Forensic officers have collected evidence, including spent shells and CCTV recordings, from inside and outside the shop. Authorities are now verifying the origin of the firearm and investigating the suspect’s background.

Seven shots and only one hit it's mark.  Some folks need more time a that gun range.

Happy outcome none the less ... :cheesy:
