Just updated my BIOS: Now, I'm receiving classified messages from Area 51...!
Dear Linux Friends Around the World: For some reason, unknown, after updating the BIOS on my computer, using standard procedures…. I am receiving unwanted messages from Area 51, even through my tinsel hat….which is something that very rarely, if ever happens to me. Has this ever happened to you, upon BIOS update on a linux box? And, if so, then what do you do? Do you just suck it up? Or, do you try to solve the problem by checking the voltage to your RAM? OR, do you deny the messages from Area 51, even though, deep down, you know they are there, and that you are just in denial? Here are some things I do to block out BIOS-related ARTIFACTS….. I listen to REALLY LOUD music. I take a cold shower. I have a foot massage in Pattaya. I listen to Jeff Beck perform in Tokyo. All of the above….even though….nothing seems to help. Hopefully, the above tips might be of interest to other Linuxly-interested readers of this Topic. And, one more thing…. I find it most disheartening that there is not much more interest in this Linux sub-forum on ThaiVisa. And…..WHY IS THAT!!!!!???? If you really want to know….I would say that….it might be just a case of incipiently encroaching decrepitude, because, my guess is that the guys on TV are now just too old to care about anything GOOD,….slouches as they seem to have become. Windows is not good enough for them, but neither is Windows too bad, either. We are old on this forum. And, unless we make the effort to change for the better, then we will go to our graves….with Windows on our breaths…and die an inglorious death. Just my innocent thoughts…. Hope you agree. You mean, if the small minority if idiots on the roads followed the rules like everyone else, then the whole of the nation would be just like the UK ???... I don't think so. Making things safer etc is not going to turn Thailand into the West - its still going to be Thailand, just with less dangerous stuff around. -

Online Visa late
What happens when your Visa arrives after you have already entered Thailand, Can it still be used or is this just lost and deleted? My O visa was delayed for a small error and I don't think there is time to receive the notification / visa before entering. Thoughts! -

Introduction to Personal Income Tax in Thailand
Sounds like what happened with the implementation of FATCA, when banks had to have new customers ascertain whether or not they were Yanks. This was back in 2015, and the banks were supposed to then go back to pre-2015 customers and get their bonafides. This was not an option -- Thailand had entered into an agreement, and thus their banks had to fall in line. I don't know if the banks had to survey all farangs, or just those with indications of being a Yank (you know, handsome, good teeth, large bank account). I had had a Bangkok Bank account from well before 2015 -- and never got a survey (maybe that missing front tooth). Or, maybe because I hadn't updated my new email address..... Anyway, this new survey going on -- obviously at the behest of the Thai govt, not just KBank -- is due to the recent signing on by Thailand with CRS. That they're rolling up FATCA folks too might mean they were told to complete some unfinished business. Dunno. Maybe I should expect an email soon from Bangkok Bank, tho I still haven't updated my email address. No matter -- and no big deal -- unless your international financial data is suspect....
