Police have arrested a 32-year-old Singaporean national, identified only as Brian, at his Thai wife’s residence in Khon Kaen’s Si Chomphu district, following a request for cooperation from Singaporean authorities. The arrest on November 19 came after Thailand’s Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) acted on intelligence indicating the suspect was wanted in connection with an international scam syndicate. His detention marks a step in ongoing efforts to disrupt transnational fraud operations targeting victims across Southeast Asia.

Singapore’s Anti-Scam Centre had earlier alerted Thailand’s Anti-Cybercrime Scam Centre that Brian was subject to an Interpol Red Notice. He is one of 34 individuals sought by Singaporean police on charges linked to organised crime and cross-border fraud. Brian was believed to have fled from a scam base in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, before entering Thailand and hiding at his wife’s home.

Investigators said Brian admitted during questioning that he served as the financial administrator for the scam network. His role allegedly involved assisting callers who impersonated government officials to frighten Singaporean victims into transferring money. He reportedly told Thai police that he earned around US$4,000 per month through the operation, which is believed to comprise both Singaporean and Malaysian members, including senior figures within the group.

Authorities in Thailand have charged Brian with overstaying. Deportation proceedings are expected to follow, with the suspect likely to be returned to Singapore to face cybercrime-related charges. Police say the arrest underscores the value of international coordination in tackling fraud syndicates operating across borders.

Singapore has recently intensified its crackdown on regional scam networks amid rising public concern. Earlier this month, the country’s Parliament approved tougher penalties for convicted scammers, including mandatory caning, and added provisions for discretionary caning for money mules involved in such crimes. Officials say these measures are intended to deter organised scam groups that continue to exploit victims throughout the region.

Khoasod reported that Thai authorities are now coordinating with their Singaporean counterparts to arrange Brian’s deportation timeline. Further investigations into potential accomplices or supporting networks in Thailand may follow. Both countries have reiterated their commitment to continued cooperation as cross-border fraud cases grow increasingly complex and technologically sophisticated.

So red notices do work - was there ever 1 issued against certain people in Thailand or just yeah we've done it but no proof or promises

If a red notice proves it works - wonder why no updates from Thailand - at least Thaskin came back & faced the music albeit probably not was agreed as proven
