Reality seems to have slipped passed many posters on here. Compromise now or surrender uncoditionally later. Russia will win this war if the war continues resuting in huge numbers of further deaths. If you disagree then argue your point. Convince me that Ukraine can win. Any thumbs down, laughing emojis I get for this simply indicates that those who react with these have absolutely zero idea about what is happening on the battlefield and are simply reacting emotively and not rationally.

Russia invaded Ukraine thinking it would all be over in a matter of days or weeks.

I  feel that it is for the Ukrainian people to decide and only them, they should be supported in whatever decision they take not forced to capitulate by withdrawing support or Trump and Putin stitching Ukraine up between them.

Ukraine's biggest problem is it's limited manpower and a reliable supply of intelligence weapons and ammunition compared to Russia, but they haven't lost yet.

Russia has nowhere near the military resource of the US yet even the US with its massive resources and firepower could not succeed in Vietnam or Afganistan neither did Hitler succeed in invading Britain. Numbers aren't everything though I agree at the moment Russia does appear to have the upper hand but that could change.

If reports are to be believed Russia has lost over a million of its young men and its economy must have taken a massive hit, its not inconcevable that pressure from within Russia or even a regime change could happen.

The sooner the war is brought to an end the better but it must be one that Ukraine can accept and not forced into.

There's a huge difference in motivation between the two sides.

Ukraine is fighting for its existence whilst Russians are fighting for money.

The Ukrainian war is taking place in a geografical aerea that allowes for "classical warfare". Under such circumstances, my statistics are correct. Not to be compared to any "Djungle" war (Vietnam). Comparing apples with oranges comes to mind.

As I said before: "One can dream, speculate, hope but in the end "reality" is the master that rules the world".

You're ignoring the advantage Ukraine has with drones and missiles at legitimate targets in Russia. Russia is so big its impossible to defend well against that.

. Russia is so big its impossible to defend well against that.

The other way around: Russia is so big that you can not destroy their infrastrucure, as opposed to the geografical much smaller Ukraine. Russia is in the process to destroy the Ukrainian infrastrucure. The "electric grid" above everything else.

Future warfare: Destroy the infrastructure of the enemy by means of zillions of low cost drones. Why are we investing in fighter jets that cost 100 million a piece?

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Special Group Alpha carried out a series of precise strikes on Russian positions in Pokrovsk and deep behind enemy lines in the Donetsk region.

In Pokrovsk, the operation destroyed a tower at an industrial facility where Ukrainian intelligence had detected Russian army machine gun crews, snipers, and FPV operators.

Another target for the special forces included warehouses holding FPV drones and Zala and Gerbera unmanned aerial vehicles, located behind enemy lines in the Donetsk region. The strikes were conducted using FP-2 drones.

Russian forces spent several days trying to advance into central Pokrovsk under thick fog. Their attempts failed, and they suffered heavy losses, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian troops have concentrated their largest formation near the Pokrovsk-Myronhrad agglomeration. The enemy remains highly active, but Ukrainian forces continue to repel attacks.

In Pokrovsk, search-and-assault operations are ongoing. Combat units from the Ground Forces, Air Assault Forces, assault regiments, and other Defense Forces components are involved.

"Over the past few days, the enemy tried to advance into central Pokrovsk using thick fog. These attempts were unsuccessful. Enemy forces are being eliminated within urban areas. Defense Forces hold designated lines in the northern part of Pokrovsk and control positions south of the railway, which are key for further de-occupation," the General Staff said.

Speaking to DW's Michaela Küfner after the G20 summit in Johannesburg, Merz said Europe had known about the proposal and confirmed he had spoken with former US President Donald Trump before traveling to South Africa.

"We are aware of this 28-point plan since last Friday," Merz said. "I had a call with President Trump before I left the country. I told him that we could agree on some of them, but there are others we could not agree, and I told him that we are fully in line with Ukraine, that the sovereignty of this country must not be jeopardized."

He said negotiations in Geneva were serious and were being led by national security advisers from the US, Ukraine and Europe. "We do not know what the outcome of these talks could be," Merz said. "At the very end of the day, the sovereignty of Ukraine may not be questioned."

DW exclusive: Merz warns Ukraine's sovereignty is non-negotiable

Here's the counteroffer.

Of course Putin will reject.

The fighting will go on.

Nobody knows for how long.

Days, months, years, many years?

No particular outcome is inevitable.

Both sides have cards.

White English people are not racist. I find your comment unjustified, to put it mildly.

I can assure you that certain white English people are.

A very good friend of mine, white, English who sees Farage as England's saviour, reckons the current "anti-alcohol" debate here is being influenced by the speaker of the Thai parliament. Or, as he calls it, "That Muslim fellah."

Ignorance isn't necessarily bliss.

What has religion, in your example a reference to a Moslem, got to do with race ?

It would be interesting to know the primary source of this MSN [MSM] article, ideally with supporting aerial videos (including geolocation) taken by drone.

Glaringly suspect is the link to https://newsukraine.rbc.ua

Western MSM (including western "Intelligence") uses predominently official Ukrainian sources, a rich source of fabricated news since the earliest days (Snake Island, the Ghost Fighter-Pilot, etc)

Not everything goes well for the Russians, as admitted by neutral - and some pro-Russian - sources; but overall they are in a greatly more advantageous position.  Here is a small selection of views that contradict western mainstream opinion:

Actually that's unfair. The first 1'46" is factually correct. The remaining +/-13' is, as you say, Bo llocks.

Certain white English people are racist; certain brown Thai people are racist; certain black American people are racist. However, the fact that these people unfortunately exist does not mean that their views are representative of the rest of the populations.
