Tourist police and immigration officers in Koh Phangan, Surat Thani, arrested six Myanmar nationals in a coordinated drug operation at a local resort, seizing methamphetamine and crystal meth. The operation, led by Police Lieutenant Winij Boonchit of Tourist Police Division 5, aimed to dismantle a network distributing yaba and other narcotics on the island. The arrests occurred on 19 - 20 November 2025, with suspects aged 19 to 27.

The operation began on 19 November 2025 when officers apprehended 27-year-old Myanmar national Hnin with two methamphetamine pills. Hnin revealed he had purchased the drugs from 23-year-old Myanmar national Se Tu. Police arranged a controlled buy in front of a Lotus store, but Se Tu fled on a big bike before the handover.

On 20 November 2025, authorities reviewed local CCTV with the help of the Koh Phangan mayor and identified Se Tu’s resort accommodation in Moo 1, Ban Tai Subdistrict. During a search, officers found Se Tu asleep outside and three others, 26-year-old Min, 23-year-old Le and 19-year-old Jo, inside preparing drugs. In total, 116 methamphetamine pills and 0.22 grams of crystal meth were recovered from a black shoulder bag. All four admitted ownership of the drugs, which were sourced from a Myanmar supplier in Koh Samui at 3,000 baht per 100-pill bundle.

Investigations revealed the suspects operated with defined roles: Se Tu liaised with clients and delivered drugs (yaba sold at 100 baht per pill), Min and Jo packaged the pills, and Le collected and managed sales proceeds. Se Tu had a prior arrest by the same tourist police team in 2023 and had been released only two months prior.

Naewna reported that the suspects face charges including possession and distribution of Class 1 narcotics (yaba and crystal meth) for commercial purposes, illegal entry into Thailand, and illegal drug use. All six were taken to Koh Phangan Police Station for legal proceedings.
