Anti-corruption authorities have arrested former Major General Nanthaphop Woramit after he allegedly failed to submit a legally required asset and debt declaration. Officers from the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), assisted by regional police units, carried out the operation in Loei province. The arrest follows months of unsuccessful attempts by the NACC to secure his cooperation, prompting the agency to obtain a court-approved warrant.

The case centres on Nanthaphop’s obligation to file a complete asset and liability declaration following his retirement as Director of the Office of Equipment Management under the Defence Logistics Command of the Royal Thai Armed Forces. His former position falls under roles specified in the NACC’s 2018 announcement requiring state officials to report financial holdings under Section 103 of the 2018 Organic Act on Anti-Corruption. According to the NACC, he did not submit the documents within the legal timeframe, despite being formally notified.

Officials state that the NACC sent written notices instructing him to provide the overdue declaration together with an explanation for the delay. Although Nanthaphop personally signed to acknowledge receipt of the communication, he reportedly did not submit any documentation or offer reasons for non-compliance. The NACC then issued three further notifications calling on him to clarify the situation and accept the allegations, but none of the letters were collected.

As a result, the NACC’s legal division requested the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases Region 1 to approve an arrest warrant. The court granted the warrant, numbered 57/2568 and dated 21 October 2025. Investigators subsequently traced Nanthaphop to a residence in Phanok Khao, Phu Kradueng district, Loei province and applied to Loei Provincial Court for a search warrant, numbered K492/2568 and issued on 18 November 2025.

A coordinated operation between the NACC’s Special Investigation and Operations Office and Region 4 police units was then executed. Officers searched the property and detained Nanthaphop in accordance with the warrant for intentionally failing to file an asset declaration under Section 167 of the 2018 Organic Act on Anti-Corruption. He was taken into custody for further legal processing.

The NACC has not yet released details on when formal charges will be filed in court, reported Naewna. Further examination of the case documents and any subsequent statements from the suspect are expected to guide the next steps. Authorities say the investigation will continue in line with anti-corruption procedures.
