Hanh Airways

Featured Replies

Looking at business class flight back to UK (LON)  I keep getting search results pointing to Hanh Air.  Very cheap, but i cannot find any more information of this airline.

has anyone experience of flying with this carrier?

Their web-site gives no information about LON-BKK route nor the aircraft (787) they claim to fly on this route.  is this a genuine airline, or just a consolidator?  I note that  despite search for business class, they are only offering premium economy'  What exactly does this offer?

Hahn Air is a German airline and a market leader in the travel industry for its unique business-to-business (B2B) services, which include distribution and ticketing solutions for other airlines and travel agencies. The company is best known for its HR-169 ticket, which allows travel agents to book flights for partner airlines that may not have a global distribution system (GDS) presence and provides insolvency protection for passengers. While Hahn Air operates its own scheduled and executive charter flights, its primary focus is on its distribution services that connect over 350 partner airlines with more than 100,000 travel agencies worldwide.

Key services and operations
  • Distribution and ticketing: Hahn Air's core business is providing ticketing solutions for over 350 partner airlines, enabling them to be sold in markets where they have no direct presence.
  • HR-169 ticket: This is an insolvency-safe ticket that can be used to book flights from partner airlines that might not have their own ticketing authority. It also provides passengers with free reimbursement in case the operating carrier becomes insolvent.
  • H1-Air and X1-Air: These are product names for the services offered by Hahn Air Systems and Hahn Air Technologies, respectively. They allow travel agents to book flights from airlines with limited or no GDS access under the codes H1 or X1.
  • Own airline operations: Hahn Air also operates a scheduled and executive charter airline with a fleet of Cessna business jets, providing flights within Europe.
  • Global reach: Through its services, Hahn Air reaches more than 100,000 travel agencies in 190 markets.

How it works for travel agents and passengers
  • For travel agents: The HR-169 ticket allows agencies to sell tickets for a greater variety of carriers and routes, expanding their offerings. Agents can check the availability of airlines and combinations in their market using the quick check tool on the Hahnair website.
  • For passengers: While Hahn Air does not serve passengers directly, it ensures that they can book flights on "otherwise unreachable airlines" and provides an insolvency-safe ticket with free reimbursement.
