Cyber police have raided an online gambling operation in Chiang Rai, arresting the site’s owner and seizing assets valued at over 5 million baht. The website, linked to the gsa9game network, reportedly handled annual transactions exceeding 120 million baht and openly promoted itself on Google Maps as a top gambling hub in Thailand.

The operation was carried out on 24 November at a property in Moo 5, Ban Du Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District. The raid, executed under Criminal Court warrant 6792/2568, led to the arrest of 30-year-old Kasidit Chombutsri, owner of the gambling network. Authorities also seized a white Honda Accord, 11 mobile phones, a desktop computer, 15 baht of gold bars, 5 baht of gold ornaments, branded jewellery and six bank passbooks.

Investigations revealed that the website illegally facilitated gambling and targeted minors, with over 20,000 registered users. Police uncovered financial records showing monthly transaction volumes exceeding 10 million baht. The operation’s base extended across Chiang Rai and northern provinces bordering neighbouring countries.

Police stated that 22 individuals involved in the network have had warrants issued, following prior arrests of nine administrators, financial managers, advertising staff and account holders. Evidence indicated that Kasidit was the primary beneficiary of the network. A tip-off confirmed his presence at the Chiang Rai site, where police served the warrant and took him into custody.

Kasidit admitted to entering the online gambling industry six to seven years ago, initially working in marketing for cross-border gambling sites. He later invested personal savings to establish his own websites, eventually operating seven online gambling platforms. Authorities have charged him with organising illegal gambling, promoting and soliciting bets online without official permission and money laundering in conspiracy with others. He is now in police custody pending prosecution.

Daily News reported the case highlights the growing challenge of online gambling enforcement in Thailand, particularly sites openly defying authorities. Police continue to investigate remaining suspects and trace the flow of illicit funds linked to the operation.
