A blaze erupted in a mixed-use building on Sukhumvit Soi 8 in Bangkok’s Klong Toey district, injuring two American men. The fire broke out in an office on the ground floor on Monday at approximately 11.25am.

Firefighters quickly controlled the blaze, preventing it from reaching residential areas on the upper floors.

The six-storey building houses various facilities, including offices and living accommodations, as well as a restaurant. The fire damaged a 25-square-metre office area, destroying furniture and scorching wall and ceiling panels. Initial investigations indicate the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit at a wall-mounted switching panel.

The injured individuals include a 63-year-old and a 26-year-old. The older man suffered a sprained ankle but declined hospital treatment after receiving first aid. The younger man injured his foot and was transported to Vimut Theptarin Hospital. Fortunately, no other casualties were reported, and all residents were evacuated safely.

Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the fire, focusing on confirming the suspected electrical fault. As operations proceed, all necessary safety checks will be conducted to prevent future incidents in the building, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • A fire in Bangkok injured two Americans, with minimal damage contained.
  • Suspected electrical fault caused the incident in the commercial building.
