Police in Khon Kaen have arrested a 36-year-old man for murdering a female colleague and dumping her body in a patch of woodland near a parcel distribution centre, bringing swift resolution to a case that emerged when the victim’s body was found on 1 December. Officers from Muang Khon Kaen and Region 4 investigative units detained the suspect, identified as Mr Jiraphat, after tracing his movements following the discovery of Ms Kanokwan, 30, who had been dead for at least two to three days. The arrest has eased immediate concerns in the community after police confirmed the killing was an isolated act by someone known to the victim.

Investigators said the body was found in a small forested area beside a major private parcel distribution hub on Mittraphap Road in Tambon Samran. Signs of dragging were visible, with flattened grass leading from beneath a large roadside tree to where the body lay. Initial checks indicated homicide, prompting officers to pool resources from the provincial and regional investigation teams to track the perpetrator.

Police soon identified the suspect as a colleague of the victim, both were employed at the nearby distribution centre. Officers brought him in for questioning, but he initially denied any involvement. After further interrogation, he confessed to killing her inside his car on the evening of 28 November after an argument following a shopping trip.

According to police, the suspect had taken Ms Kanokwan to a department store in Tambon Sila, Muang Khon Kaen, to buy her a mobile phone. When they returned to the car, an argument erupted after she asked him for money, escalating when she allegedly slapped him once. The suspect said he became enraged and strangled her to death before driving toward his workplace without knowing where to leave the body.

He told officers that upon seeing the dark patch of woodland beside the distribution centre, he pulled over, dragged her body through the undergrowth and left it there before reporting for work as usual. Police later reconstructed the events with the suspect during a crime reenactment on 2 December, led by Pol Col Phiphat Phimklom, superintendent of Wewuwan Police Station, and Pol Col Wongsakorn Wanchai, head of the provincial investigation unit. Officers have since transferred the suspect for prosecution under applicable criminal charges.

Khoasod reported that the investigation will proceed with further forensic examinations and preparation of the case file for prosecutors. Police said further interviews and evidence checks will continue to ensure all details of the killing and disposal are fully documented. The suspect remains in custody as the legal process moves forward.
