A 63-year-old monk from Ban Na Pla Jad temple tragically died after his pickup truck collided with a truck near the entrance of Tham Pla – Pha Suea National Park in Mae Hong Son. The crash occurred when the pickup’s front tyre reportedly exploded, causing the vehicle driver to lose control and crash into the truck returning from Myanmar.

Rescue teams from the Huai Pha Subdistrict Administrative Organisation quickly responded, providing emergency aid and transporting the monk to Sri Sangwan Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The pickup’s front was extensively damaged due to the impact with the truck, which was empty at the time.

Police from Mae Hong Son City Station, Tham Pla checkpoint, arrived to investigate the scene and began collecting evidence. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion from the front tyre before the pickup veered uncontrollably into the trailer.

Naewna reported that authorities have confirmed the monk was a 63-year-old resident of Ban Na Pla Jad Temple in Huai Pha subdistrict, Mae Hong Son district. The investigation is ongoing, with forensic examination and detailed inquiry planned to determine the exact cause of the tyre failure and collision.
