A married couple died after their motorcycle was hit by a pickup truck and burst into flames on Phetkasem Road in Phatthalung province on the morning of 6 December 2025. The collision occurred at about 09:00 in Moo 11, Tha Khae subdistrict, on the southbound lane of the highway. Rescue teams and local emergency personnel responded rapidly but were unable to save the victims.

Police found a white Isuzu D-Max box truck with damage to its left front side. Nearby, the couple’s Honda Wave motorcycle was engulfed in flames, requiring residents and emergency workers to extinguish the fire before investigators could approach. The force of the impact and the blaze left the vehicle severely damaged.

Mr Narong, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Mrs Somjit, 64, suffered critical injuries, prompting rescuers to perform CPR before she was transported to Phatthalung Hospital. She later succumbed to her injuries despite medical intervention.

Relatives told officers that the pair had been travelling to a funeral for Mr Narong’s brother at a temple in Na Not. They said the couple had just emerged from a side lane to rejoin the main highway when they were struck. According to their account, the motorcycle may have entered the lane unexpectedly, leading to the high-impact collision with the approaching pickup truck.

Siamnews reported that police are reviewing footage from the crash site and interviewing the pickup driver as part of efforts to determine the precise cause of the collision. Investigators said additional evidence would be gathered before reaching a final conclusion.
