A woman was killed and six visually impaired passengers were injured when she lost control of her pickup truck and struck a roadside tree on 7 December 2025 in Udon Thani province. The crash occurred on Highway 3212 between Nong Han and Phen districts, where emergency responders found the black Toyota Vigo severely damaged and its roof crushed. The driver, 55-year-old Apinya from Nong Khai, was found dead in the driver’s seat with a broken neck and head trauma.

The group had departed from the Udon Thani Association of the Blind and were travelling to Ban Nanak Hong in Phibun Rak district to visit members. All injured passengers were identified as members or associates of the association, including its president, Kannaphop, who was among those hurt. Rescue teams transported two seriously injured individuals, Thongdee and Phawana, to Udon Thani Hospital, while four others, Bunnak, Bunhom, Saiyan and Kannaphop, were sent to Phibun Rak Hospital.

Police investigators were told that the pickup attempted to overtake another vehicle by moving into the right lane before swerving back, at which point the driver lost control. Witnesses reported that the vehicle veered off the road and hit a large tree, causing extensive damage that trapped the driver. Officers from Phibun Rak Police Station, led by Pol Col Rungsak Mahapanyawong and Pol Lt Col Kongsak Mukdamuang, responded to the scene along with local rescue teams.

Authorities have not yet determined where each injured passenger was seated or whether any were riding in the rear cargo area. Police said they will review CCTV or dashboard camera footage from nearby vehicles to identify the exact sequence of events. Investigators also plan to interview the injured passengers when their conditions improve to establish a full account of the crash.

Khoasod reported that further examinations and statements will form the basis of the official crash report. Police will summarise their findings and determine any legal steps once all evidence is collected.

Six passengers inside seems a bit too crowdy... anyway again a lack of driving skills and responsibility. I believe when you have other passengers you have to drive even more carefully than when you are alone.. Don't play with others life
