In Loei province, a Thai man, Jaksin Jaroensuk, 26, was arrested for the murder of an LGBTQIA+ couple, Pranom, 69, and Winai, 65, claiming self-defence. The victims were discovered by neighbors at their home with severe injuries, allegedly inflicted by a crowbar and a billhook knife. The crime scene also showed signs of ransacking, with some belongings missing.

The suspect’s relationship with the victims began through his former partner, and he had been living with them temporarily. Just days before the incident, the couple had taken Jaksin to a medical centre. After the murders, Jaksin was caught outside a local restaurant riding a motorcycle stolen from the victims.

Upon arrest, police found 79 methamphetamine pills, cash, and victim’s belongings, including a bankbook and ID card, on Jaksin. Allegedly, Pranom attempted a sexual assault, provoking Jaksin's violent response. Jaksin confessed to attacking the men, using the crowbar and the billhook knife.

Authorities charged Jaksin with intentional murder, theft, and drug-related offenses. The case has sparked discussions on safety and the complexities surrounding self-defence claims in violent crimes.

Looking forward, the legal proceedings will determine the veracity of Jaksin's claims and the appropriate charges he will face. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding violence against LGBTQIA+ individuals in the region, prompting police to take additional safety measures, reported The Thaiger.
