Immigration officers in Nakhon Pathom have arrested four Myanmar nationals in a targeted drug raid following community complaints, with one suspect found to have overstayed in Thailand for more than five years. The operation took place at a rented room in Moo 5, Om Yai Subdistrict, Sam Phran District, where officers seized 65 methamphetamine tablets. Police said the arrests aimed to restore public confidence after reports of disturbances and suspected criminal activity in the area.

The raid was launched after a “good citizen” reported that a group of foreign workers frequently gathered to use and sell drugs, causing fear and unease among residents. In response, immigration authorities carried out a planned sting operation, followed by a coordinated enclosure and search of the targeted property. The incident aligns with intensified nationwide security and immigration enforcement measures ordered by the Royal Thai Police to reinforce the “Thailand Safe Zone” initiative.

These measures were directed by Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, who instructed officers to conduct strict inspections across tourist areas and high-risk zones. Immigration Bureau leadership, including Pol. Lt. Gen. Pannumat Boonyaluck and Pol. Maj. Gen. Songsak Nuchanarot, oversaw the operation through Immigration Division 3. Local command was led by Pol. Col. Jirapong Rujiradamrongchai, who deployed Pol. Lt. Col. Mitchai Promchan and the Nakhon Pathom investigative team to act swiftly on the tip-off.

Officers arrested Mr. Aung Ko, 24, Mr. Saw Min, 28, Mr. San Myint, 20, and Mr. Thet Oo, 27, all identified as Myanmar workers. Police charged the suspects with jointly selling a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) and seized 65 methamphetamine pills as evidence. A detailed background check revealed that one suspect had overstayed his visa for 2,082 days, more than five years, prompting immediate custody for immigration violations.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Songsak emphasised that although the drug quantity was small, the suspects’ behaviour caused significant concern among nearby residents. He reiterated that immigration officers must work both as service providers and professional police officers to urgently resolve threats reported by the public. He thanked all officers involved and encouraged the public to continue sending crime-related information, assuring that all reports would be kept confidential.

Daily News reported that the suspects have been handed over to investigators at Pho Kaew Police Station for legal proceedings, with police preparing to widen the investigation. Authorities plan to continue dismantling drug networks operating within migrant communities to strengthen community safety. Further enforcement operations are expected across Nakhon Pathom and other high-risk areas in line with national directives.
