The Second Army Area has reported ongoing clashes and heavy weapon fire along the Thailand-Cambodian border as of December 15, 2025. The tense situation has persisted since December 14 across 17 sectors, with notable intensification in Chong Bok and Chong An Ma, where heavy-weapon engagements are frequent, including BM-21 rocket fire. Additionally, various tactical adjustments and reinforcements have been observed in other sectors, citing critical situations and strategic repositioning.

Prior to these developments, Thai forces conducted operations from December 8 to 14, resulting in the destruction of multiple Cambodian military bases and assets. This includes 54 strategic sites and equipment such as tanks and drones. The recent escalations have seen Thai forces implementing stricter measures, including export controls on fuel and military materials at Chong Mek to prevent smuggling.

Expert assessments indicate a dire situation for Cambodian forces, with reports of collapsing morale and shortages of essential supplies. A Cambodian unit commander was reported killed at Prasat Ta Kwai, leading to tactical changes among Cambodian troops, such as employing suicide drones and mobile rocket strikes. Thai authorities continue to ensure the safety of the region and closely monitor the border.

Looking forward, the imposed restrictions at Chong Mek are effective from December 14, and public cooperation is sought to report any suspected activities via the ISOC hotline. The situation remains fluid, and the Second Army Area is actively monitoring any developments to maintain national security, reported The Nation.

Key Takeaways

  • Thai and Cambodian forces face escalating tensions along the border.
  • Thai operations from December 8-14 resulted in significant destruction of Cambodian assets.
  • Strict export controls at Chong Mek are now in place to prevent smuggling.
