A four-year-old girl was killed after being run over by a car beside a convenience store in Si Racha district, Chonburi, on 19 December, causing her mother to collapse in shock after witnessing the incident. Rescue workers and medical staff attempted prolonged resuscitation at the scene, but the child later died from severe injuries. Police have launched an investigation and questioned the driver, who admitted he did not see the child.

The incident was reported at 17:35 on 19 December, when the Pure Yieng Tai Si Racha rescue centre received an emergency call about a child being struck by a car near the entrance of Bueng–Bo Win Soi 88, Moo 3, Bo Win subdistrict. Ambulances from Lantom rescue services and Somdej Phra Boromrajathevi Na Si Racha Hospital were dispatched, along with investigators from Bo Win Police Station led by Pol Lt Col Sarawut Silpsai. The child was found unconscious with shallow breathing and severe injuries.

At the scene, a white car was parked in a designated area beside the convenience store. The victim, identified as a four-year-old girl named Khao Suay, was found with bleeding from her mouth and ears and clear tyre marks across her body and head. When she became unresponsive rescue workers performed continuous CPR, later assisted by paramedics using an automated CPR device, while the child’s mother and relatives cried nearby.

The driver was later identified as Mr Natthawat, aged 33, a noodle vendor operating in the area. He told police he had been driving into the parking area to set up his stall and did not see the child sitting behind the shop. He said he realised something was wrong only after feeling the car run over an object, at which point he stopped and got out to check.

According to the victim’s uncle, the child regularly played behind the shop while family members prepared food at a nearby som tam stall. At the time of the incident, the family was packing up when the noodle vendor drove in and accidentally ran over the child. The uncle said he heard a loud noise, turned around and saw the car’s wheel crushing the child’s head, prompting him to shout for the driver to stop.

Amarin reported that the child’s mother reportedly screamed upon seeing the scene and fainted several times from shock. Rescue workers to transport the child to Phyathai Bo Win Hospital for emergency treatment, where she was pronounced dead. The driver has been taken in for questioning, and police said legal proceedings will follow in accordance with standard procedures.

How tragic.....but so many parking areas in front of 7-11s become food stall markets with vehicles trying to park randomly.

The 7-11 near me has a big car park.  There are four food stalls presumably renting spaces.  Two are pitched in such a way as to obscure a view of traffic at a busy T junction.  It's an accident waiting to happen.

If preventable and avoidable, not an accident. Rather it is, negligence.

Yep, throw all of the adults in jail, especially the mother. That'll bring the little girl back.

That would be criminal negligence, which is different than general negligence.

Yes. In country where I was born it is real practice. About 2 years of jail.

The Power of Thai careless

To allow your 4 year old to run and play around where cars are driving is insane and the mother should face some repercussions for allowing the child to run off alone to play in that area. . I hope the driver does not get charges for this. Very little he could have done if the child was not seen playing there.

Justice for the child wll not be served by further hurting her mother.

If you cause the death of someone else , the usual charge is manslaughter

Oxford Language defines manslaughter as: the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder.

She did not kill the child. The child died in a tragic accident, as a result of a combination of circumstances. Whilst her lack of care may be argued to have contributed to the accident, she did not kill her.

What possible further cause could be served by prosecuting the mother?

Child is beyond justice, sadly. And I am sure the mother feels plenty of guilt. As is often the case, the repentance comes late.
