A gas fire at a street food stall in Si Racha district, Chonburi province, injured three vendors after a gas leak ignited during cooking, causing a brief but intense fire. The incident occurred on 21 December 2025 at a made-to-order food shop located in Moo 3, Surasak subdistrict, outside a convenience store near Soi Punsin on Kao Kilo Road. All three injured individuals suffered flash burns and were taken to hospital for further treatment.

Emergency services were alerted at approximately 13:10 after the Sawang Prateep Si Racha Rescue Radio Centre received reports of a fire at the premises. Firefighters from Laem Chabang City Municipality’s disaster prevention and mitigation unit were dispatched along with rescue personnel. The blaze was brought under control within around 15 minutes after arrival, preventing it from spreading to nearby shops and properties.

According to initial inspections, the fire originated from a leaking gas cylinder inside the food stall. Rescue workers removed the cylinder from the shop and shut off the valve to stop further leakage. The quick response limited damage to the stall and surrounding area and no structural collapse was reported.

All three injured vendors showed flash burn symptoms, including redness on the face and body caused by flames. Rescue workers administered first aid at the scene before transferring them to hospital for medical observation and continued care.

Mr Kwanakhon, 42, a gas delivery worker involved in the incident, said he had been delivering and replacing a gas cylinder for the shop owner at the time. He stated that gas leaked during the replacement process while food was being cooked, causing the flames to ignite suddenly inside the shop. Nearby residents then helped move other gas cylinders away from the area, fearing a secondary explosion.

A nearby vendor, known as “Pa Daeng,” who sells grilled chicken at the same row of shops, said she saw the cook frying morning glory while the gas cylinder was being changed. She said flames suddenly erupted and spread quickly, prompting her to call emergency services once she regained her composure. Firefighters arrived shortly afterwards and managed to contain the blaze.

Khoasod reported that Local authorities are expected to review safety procedures related to gas cylinder handling at street food stalls. Officials have not yet announced what or if any further inspections or regulatory measures will follow, but the incident highlights the risks associated with gas use in busy roadside food areas.

I wonder how strict they are with the condition of the old cylinders there. I know the shop has made me replace mine, as they were old and they would not refill them again.

Safety First proclaims many signs here.  Cooking Morning Glory while a gas cylinder is being changed is akin to checking for a gas leak with a flaming lighter.
