OK Who's in favor of this good news? I truly hope she's able to make the debates.

Former US Vice-President Kamala Harris has told the BBC she may run again for the White House.

In her first UK interview, Harris said she would "possibly" be president one day and was confident there will be a woman in the White House in future.

Absolutely.  I'll vote for her in my state's primary.  Well, unless AOC runs.

I could have sworn that Lizzo sang at one of her commiseration events, where she blamed everything except her own incompetence for losing.

Not to worry, next time Taylor Swift will swing the vote in her favour.

She is the last candidate in the world the Dems should back. Someone should slap her silly for even considering this. Harris was dreadful. Be gone woman.

Any Presidential candidate should at least have a minimum IQ of 140 and be under 60 years old

I expect the Shapiro, Kelly, and Beshear will be in the final 3, with  Sen. Kelly the presidential candidate and one of the 2 governor's as VP. The US needs a person with the right stuff and Kelly is a bonafide combat veteran, an astronaut and principled. He is a man who commands respect the moment you meet him. Kamala, Newsom, Pritzker et all  don't compare.

Wow, thank you Mike!!

something we can agree on!!!

Now, if we can just get you to understand that illegal immigration is wrong and if you're in the US illegally you need to be deported.

please don't give me the, who will pick the crops and do the jobs others wont. If people are deported those jobs will still get filled.

What you dont understand is that someone in the US illegally is competing for a jobs and housing against everyone else in the US.

They will accept lower pay because they have no choice as they have no rights. This keeps wages stagnant and pushes housing prices up as more buyers / renters complete in the market.

Your side complains about billionaires, but then say we need illegal immigrants to provide labor for billionaires.

all I hear from your side is "Make the billionaires pay more",  but your side's major issue for illegal immigrants is the US needs cheap labor! Who does this help?? Billionaires?

Impact on Agriculture & Food Industry

Labor Shortages: Farms are experiencing huge drops in available workers, with reports of up to 70% of farmworkers missing after raids, creating immediate labor crises.

Disrupted Harvests: With crops like fruits and vegetables having short harvest windows, labor disruptions mean lost crops, threatening farm viability, notes this Reuters article cited by The Guardian.

Reduced Production: Farmers are reducing plantings of labor-intensive crops due to raids, which could decrease future supply, according to this blog post from FoodPrint.

Rising Food Prices: Labor force disruptions are linked to rising costs for fresh vegetables and meat, impacting consumers, notes a blog post from the American Immigration Council.

Fear & Instability: Increased enforcement creates fear, preventing workers from traveling for seasonal work, further shrinking the labor pool, says this Marketplace article.

Impact on Other Industries

Hospitality: The hospitality sector is also seeing slowed labor force growth, mirroring agricultural trends, notes the American Immigration Council.

Construction: The construction industry in areas with high immigrant populations has seen employment drops, unlike other regions, notes this blog post.

The above is a quick list from the question:

Are deportations affecting US farms and industry?

I find this hard to believe. Food production would grind to a halt.

I'll try to find more details tomorrow when back on a laptop.

yeah, not real numbers.

The federal National Agricultural Workers Survey (NAWS) estimate is that 37%–47% of crop farmworkers lack work authorization

CRS uses that range with BLS counts for crop farms (about 885,000 workers in 2022) to estimate roughly 327,000 unauthorized crop farmworkers.

The estimated range is about 327,000 to 416,000 unauthorized crop workers.

USDA ERS (using NAWS/adjusted data) shows that in 2020–22, 42% of hired crop farmworkers had no work authorization

So not 70%, will it hurt for a short time, yes. Does this need to be done, yes!!

The US needs to revamp it's visa programs for immigrant workers.

The US needs to setup a program to track if a person has left the US when they were supposed to, and if not then work on deporting them.

There has only been one candidate for president from one of the two major parties to lose the election and then successfully get the nomination again.  These parties do NOT like losers.  You get one shot.  Wait now it's two since Trump lost in 2020 and won in 2024.

You will laugh when you find out who the first one was.

a sure guarantee that the Republican idiot (no matter if Vance or a DJT son) will win.  Only reason IMHO DJT won the first term was the Dems put up Hillary and too many Dems crossed over to vote for Trump IMHO anyway.  The Superpacs don't really care which of their puppets wins as the rich will get richer.

Oh Kamala, please please please DON'T!!!!

Go to the Hague and wait for the 47 cabal to be brought in.

If someone were to look real closely at Kamala's back, they'd find the fork wound.

I think I'd also vote for Sabrina Carpenter ahead of Kamala Harris. More substance.

Harris is the very definition of an empty suit, she was hugely unpopular as the District Attorney in San Francisco, she failed dramatically as the attorney general in California, she was a very unimpressive US Senator, and also a very unimpressive vice president just like Vance is now. Both empty suits.

And I say all this as a centrist Democrat. I disliked her and I did not vote for her, however I'm proud to say I didn't vote for Trump either.
