Cyber police have dismantled two major online gambling networks, arresting seven suspects and seizing digital equipment after investigations revealed combined annual cash flows exceeding 100 million baht. The raids, carried out in Bangkok and Ubon Ratchathani on 26 December, targeted websites offering multiple forms of illegal online betting. Police said the operations involved tens of thousands of users and posed significant economic and social risks.

The operation was announced at 14:30 on 26 December, at the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) headquarters in Muang Thong Thani. Police Lieutenant General Surapol Prembut, Commissioner of the TCSD, said the crackdown followed directives from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Police Chief Pol Gen Kitrat Phanphet to intensify action against online crime. Authorities prioritised online gambling, scam networks and related offences due to their impact on the public and young people.

In the first case, investigators from TCSD Division 3 identified the website “pgz168” as illegally offering online gambling services including lotteries, slots, foreign football betting and baccarat. The site reportedly had more than 10,000 members and annual turnover exceeding 100 million baht. Police traced operations to two locations within a Baan Eua Arthorn housing project in the Sai Mai area of Bangkok.

Search warrants issued by the Criminal Court led to the arrest of three administrators aged between 23 and 28. Officers seized laptops, desktop computers, mobile phones, tablets, bank passbooks and a Wi-Fi router. The suspects admitted acting as administrators, handling customer chats, credit top-ups and fund transfers, earning 12,000 baht per month.

Investigators also arrested two additional suspects acting as nominee account holders, or “mule accounts”, used to receive and transfer gambling funds. All five suspects were charged with jointly organising or promoting unauthorised electronic gambling.

Khoasod reported that the second network involved the website “123hengheng”, operating in Ubon Ratchathani. Police arrested two administrators aged 25 and 30 at separate locations after searches authorised by the Ubon Ratchathani Kwaeng Court. The site reportedly had more than 2,000 users and annual cash flow of approximately 4 million baht, with administrators earning monthly wages of 9,000 baht.

Key Takeaways

• Cyber police arrested seven suspects linked to two online gambling websites on 26 December.

• The larger network had over 10,000 users and annual turnover exceeding 100 million baht.

• All suspects face charges for organising and promoting illegal electronic gambling.
