A Pattaya lifeguard successfully resuscitated a Dutch female tourist who lost consciousness after drowning at Jomtien Beach, restoring her pulse with CPR before she was rushed to hospital, where she was reported to be stable. The incident occurred at about 1.00pm on 28 December 2025 behind the police booth at Dongtan curve. The immediate intervention prevented a fatal outcome and allowed advanced medical care to continue.

Rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya received an emergency call reporting a drowning and coordinated volunteers to the scene. Witnesses said a crowd of Thai and foreign beachgoers gathered as the woman, estimated to be about 60 years old and of Dutch nationality, was found unconscious, unresponsive and without a detectable pulse on the sand. A Pattaya lifeguard stationed at Jomtien Beach began continuous CPR.

After sustained resuscitation efforts, the woman’s pulse returned. She was then transferred urgently to Pattaya City Hospital for further treatment. Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance services from Pattaya City Hospital were dispatched to support care at the scene and during transport.

Thongchai Thiangcharoen, a lifeguard involved in the rescue, said the tourist had entered the sea near Dongtan curve before suffering muscle cramps, causing her to submerge. He stated that members of the public helped bring her ashore, after which he checked for vital signs and found none, prompting immediate CPR. He added that coordination with ALS services was made straight away to ensure rapid hospital transfer.

Pattaya City has continued to prioritise marine safety, with ongoing training in first aid and water rescue for municipal staff, lifeguards and community members. Authorities say these programmes aim to increase survival chances in emergencies involving drowning and other maritime incidents. The rescue was cited as an example of how training, readiness and swift action can be decisive in life-threatening moments.

Matichon reported that the tourist remains under medical care at Pattaya City Hospital. Officials have not released further details about her condition beyond confirming she was stabilised following resuscitation. Local authorities reiterated the importance of beach safety awareness, particularly for visitors entering the sea.

I wonder how long it took to get from Pattaya City Hospital to Dongtan Beach.

Well done that lifeguard.

Near the police station?

It's possible she went out there baked as a shepherd's pie trying to catch some waves.

Drugs / booze do not mix in the water folks.

Glad to hear she's OK.

Well done to the lifeguard!  Whatever the reason she was in the water and got into trouble, I'm glad she got spotted and rescued.  Hope she makes a full recovery.

Life guard does what he/she is paid for  .......🙄

Agreed, praise for the lifeguard, well done.

Seems to me that the training / knowledge of all resue organizatons / staff is getting much better and they are now much better equipped to have a positive impact.

Good news...

But a waste of a comment. Why not praise the lifeguard for a job well done saving a life.
