Two people were killed in a shooting outside an apartment building in Bangkok’s Bang Na district early on Sunday morning, leaving residents shaken and prompting a renewed police warning about domestic violence. The incident occurred at about 12.30am on December 28, 2025, outside an apartment complex in Soi Bang Na–Trat 16, Bang Na Tai subdistrict. Police say the deaths followed a confrontation between former partners and had a fatal outcome.

Officers from Bang Na Police Station received an emergency call reporting that a woman had been shot at the building entrance. Police, forensic officers, a forensic doctor from Chulalongkorn Hospital and rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation attended the scene. They found the body of Ms Sunisa, 27, a gold shop employee in the Bang Na area, shot in the left temple and pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspected shooter was identified as Mr Peerapol, 28, a delivery rider and Ms Sunisa’s former boyfriend. After shooting her, he reportedly ran into the middle of the alley and shot himself. A homemade firearm was recovered nearby and seized as evidence, and Mr Peerapol was taken to Thai Nakarin Hospital under police guard, where he later died.

According to the victim’s sister, the couple had been in a relationship for about two years before separating four to five months ago. The breakup followed frequent arguments and repeated physical abuse and Ms Sunisa had previously filed a police complaint against Mr Peerapol over his violent behaviour. After the separation, she moved back to live with her father in the same apartment complex.

Despite the breakup, family members said Mr Peerapol continued to contact her and repeatedly attempted to reconcile. They said she consistently refused his approaches. Police believe he went to the apartment late at night to confront her, leading to an argument that escalated into the shooting.

At around 3.30am, police were notified by hospital staff that Mr Peerapol had died from his injuries. Investigators said the case highlights the serious risks associated with unresolved domestic violence. Police urged those experiencing abuse to seek assistance before situations escalate further.

SaimNews reported that investigators are continuing to gather witness statements, review CCTV footage from the area, and examine forensic evidence. Police said the findings will be compiled to formally close the case following the deaths of both individuals. Authorities also indicated that support services remain available for victims of domestic abuse.

Is it not true, that the police don't get involved in domestics here in Thailand?
