A 57-year-old daily cleaner accused of poisoning a toddler with disinfectant has been remanded in custody after failing to raise bail at Phra Nakhon Tai District Court on 31 December. The suspect, known as “Pa Ann”, was transferred immediately to the Central Women’s Correctional Institution after the court ordered her detention during the investigation.

The case stems from a complaint filed with Bang Phongphang Police Station following an incident on 25 December. The suspect, who offered her services via a Facebook group for daily cleaners under the profile name “สดใส แอน”, allegedly mixed Dettol multi-purpose disinfectant into a bottle of milk consumed by a two-year-old boy. The child was taken to BNH Hospital, treated and discharged without being admitted, with doctors advising continued observation at home.

According to investigators, the child’s grandmother detected a strong disinfectant smell while staying with the toddler on the third floor of the family home. CCTV footage later reviewed by the family reportedly showed the suspect pouring a bottle of water mixed with Dettol into the child’s milk bottle before leaving the premises around 13:00. The suspect is alleged to have fled immediately after the incident.

Police submitted a request to extend the detention period, and the court approved the first remand for six days, from 31 December 2025 to 5 January 2026. The court considered an application for temporary release and set bail at 30,000 baht, but the suspect was unable to provide the required security on the day of the hearing.

The suspect faces multiple charges under the Thai Criminal Code, including assault causing physical or mental harm with premeditation and adulteration of food or consumer products in a manner likely to endanger health. These charges fall under Sections 295, 296, and 236 of the Criminal Code. Police stated the investigation would continue to completion.

Matichon reported that legal proceedings will move forward during the remand period, with investigators expected to finalise evidence and witness statements. Further court appearances are anticipated once the detention period expires and bail may be reconsidered if security can be produced.
