The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that U.S. national security officials concluded Ukraine did not target Putin or any of his residences in the alleged drone incident.

The Journal said the finding was supported by a CIA assessment that determined no attempted attack on Putin occurred, citing a U.S. official briefed on the intelligence.

Instead, Ukraine, they said, was believed to be targeting a military site it had previously struck in the same region but not near Putin’s residence, the official said.

Of course, it might just be the case that you actually have been following the story, and aren't thrilled at how it casts discredit on Trump. First for his gullibility in believing Putin and second for the fact that during questioning by reporters, first he denied knowing about the alleged attack but little later said this:

It doesn't really speak well of his mental condition that during the same press conference Trump first denied knowing about the Russian claims of a drone attack on Putin's residence but then said he "was very angry about it."

He also claimed that this imaginary attack was vindication of his decision to stop supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

It doesn't matter what the US, EU, UK, or their media outlets think. It only matters what Russia thinks.

I'm pretty sure that what is happening aligns to the phrase, "Fool around, find out." My guess is that Ukraine is about to "find out," and the NATO countries and Ukraine and all of Ukraine's supporters know that Ukraine is about to "find out." So Western media and Western leaders are pulling out all the stops and going on a massive media campaign to say that the attack never happened. Then when they "find out" they can feel justified to scream and wail about "Russian Aggression." I think that the NATO countries will get so worked up that they finally launch an overt attack against Russian forces after which we get what Western leaders seem to so badly want: World War 3.

There are 2 issues here. One is whether or not it's the truth. Given the paucity of evidence produced by the Russians, it seems very unlikely. The other issue is whether or not Russians believe it. That does matter. But whether Russians mostly believe the claim or are skeptical about it, who can say? It's not like they enjoy a lot of access to outside news sources. Which, in itself, is significant.

This is the least surprising bit of news I've read in a long time. But Donald probably still believes it, because Putin said so.😄
