There is a simple way, DON'T BE A BLOODY GOOSE.

Behaviour, respect and don't hang around ladyboy's.

What about if they "hang around you", you are innocently walking down the street and two of them working in tandem approach you, one to touch you to distract you and another to grab your wallet, what behaviour and respect will help you then?

I suppose muggers should be respected?

While I do agree with what you're saying having sex with another guy (without breasts) would be stigmatized even more. I'm a pretty open-minded guy but nobody can convince me that there's not a gay component involved, especially when you consider the fact that 90% of katoeys in Thailand are pre-op.

True, especially when 99% of the ladyboys look like blokes anyway and can be spotted as blokes a mile away.

Innocently walking down beach road, the coconut bar at 3am, I understand.

You won't be around for long, looking for trouble. 😂

Oh yet another stupid made up word, transphobic.

It seems the word phobia has taken on a different meaning, it means someone who has a different opinion to the person misusing the word.

Islamophobia for example is where a white person says something negative about the religion, there is not Christophobia or Hinduophobia made up words yet as far as I know.

What about lazy people, do they have workophobia?

Stupid words used by stupid people.

Great post ...I would have to agree .

Oh don't be Wordaphobic!

You've never been to the Alice. Stop watching so much television. If you really want a fun night out try Katherine on pension day.

Are the Australian Country Cities of Katherine and Alice Springs interesting on Welfare payment days?

They should bring the tourists there on those days

Well I can almost always tell although there have been a couple of occasions where I've been out at a bar with my woman and she pointed out a lady boy that I could swear was a woman.

I have a good friend who was telling me for a year or so that he wanted me to meet his new girlfriend, how wonderful she was and he finally came to our town we had lunch, and he showed up with a 6-ft tall ladyboy, it was truly the shock of my life. So unexpected.

I remember being in Phuket over 30 years ago when it was still a great destination for a single guy, and I would start out every evening by stopping at this one bar and chatting up this beautiful gal, this happened four or five times in a row and then one day another gal a few bars away that I stopped at pointed to her and said I didn't know you like ladyboys. I said well I'm not into ladyboys why you say that, she said you keep on talking to that ladyboy and buying buying drinks for her and she still has her member! Jeez, I was utterly shocked and I guess my instincts proved to be correct because after 4 or 5 visits there was still something holding me back!

On another occasion way back when I was with a good friend on Soi 4, near Nana and he picked up a beautiful, small ,very feminine looking gal and at 3:00 a.m. he calls me and he was in shock, because it turned out to be a ladyboy, turns out she wouldn't let him touch her and finally he did a really quick reach around and he got a handful!

He was nearly in tears and asked me if he was now gay since he had kissed him, and let him perform on him, he thought that that might have made him a gay man . I told him no this is Thailand, you get two free passes. LOL. Just to think of the crazy old days puts a smile on my face.

Been living a peaceful life in Pattaya for 20 years. There's nowhere better to retire in Thailand. If you make trouble anywhere, you will have problems, no matter where you live.

I used to go there in the 1980's/90's, it was totally different then.

I went there in 2019 for a few days from Rayong where I was having a house built, after a few hours I left, what a dump, full of scum tourists, prostitutes lining the beach even during the afternoon.

Here in Phuket it is totally different, most tourists are couples and families with a few more shillings in their pocket than the average tourist in Pattaya, there is the odd chav as they are everywhere but on the whole they are decent.

Even the Russians living here are mostly clean cut families, man wife, with kids, decent types, no trouble at all, not a bar girl to be seen in their presence.

I can't imagine how you don't know, he's 6 ft tall, has a very deep voice, looks like a man but dresses like a woman, and more than likely still has his package since 90% of all ladyboys in Thailand are pre-op, so how do you not know?

You used to go there in the 1980s/90s and visited for a few days in 2019, and have become an expert on all things Pattaya?

This is the problem with people who don't know the area visit for a few days, and become experts based on a few observations or some reports such as the one we are reading here. Expats seldom retire in the Central Tourist areas and seldom go there. I would venture to say very few of us hang out on Walking Street. I live 10 - 12 minutes away from the tourist centre (5 km) and never see tourists, and maybe see a foreigner once a week. I don't even see bar girls here. I have quiet beaches a few km from home (North Pattaya - Naklua - Krathing Lai). Before I moved there, I lived next to a park and woke up to birds chirping, on a quiet soi quite close to all the action.

There is no way I'd live in Phuket or Rayong for a lot of reasons beyond the scope of this thread, but I certainly wouldn't come onto this forum and label them as A-hole places. There's no reason to insult expats, which is what you do when you make comments like that. If someone comes on here and rubbishes where I've lived for 20 years, that's very provocative and it might cause some pushback. There are a lot of people like you on this forum, just waiting for a reason to rubbish Pattaya.

If you read the originators first comment you will see it is about an Arab looking guy being attacked in a tourist area, it has nothing to do with expats.

My comment was nothing to do with expats as when I went to Pattaya I went as a tourist as I do not live there.

My observations as a tourist was the tourist area (hint a place for tourists) was a dump, why would I go all the way to Pattaya as a tourists to sit in a park, I of course went to the tourist area and my opinion stands, sulk as much as you like 😀

I couldn't know as I was not there.

My question was did your friend know 'she' was a bloke and did not care anyway or preferred blokes in the first place?

The whole time I knew him he preferred women, so this wasn't aberration, he certainly knew and I guess he was okay with it anyway.

Your original comment was: "Well from a start people could avoid A-hole places like Pattaya"

"People" in this context refers to any foreigners in Pattaya, both tourists and expats. It is also likely that most expats were once tourists, just as I was.

I could put money down that if you insult a ladyboy in Rayong, Phuket, Bangkok or any other city in Thailand, you're asking for trouble. Most people do not have difficulty with ladyboys. I've never had words with one in 20 years.

Many tourists choose to holiday in quiet places in Pattaya, as there are numerous peaceful and tranquil spots to stay. Additionally, a significant number of tourists stroll through the park I mentioned, located just a short distance from Walking Street. Many tourists visit the Big Buddha, located in the centre of this park.

Rather than sulking, I'm politely suggesting that your opinion is invalid. We can certainly disagree about that, and let the readers and people who know Pattaya decide. Your opinion deserved a rebuttal, which is what this is.

You never thought to consider that being attracted to ladyboys is just an attraction to ladyboys and has nothing at all to do with sexual orientation?

How does bisexuality fit into your narrow perspective?

Sulking, not in the least, it is great living here in Phuket on a nice quiet 300 house gated community with private roads, walking/cycling, great, with its own private park and pool.👍

Lots of things to do here in Phuket, with lots of first class shopping areas, restaurants, the list goes on.

It is a lot more expensive than Pattaya which means we do not have the tattooed shirtless farangs as can be seen in Pattaya, even the Russians here are decent, smartly dressed family people with Russian wife and kids, not a bar girl to be seen.

I have never had a problem with them at all.

And no it is not overrun with them as some people have said, for example of the thousands of Thais living in my area only one house is Russian, in fact only about five percent are farangs at all the others at Thais.

You keep to Pattaya and I will keep to Phuket and we will both be happy. 😀

If he ever drops a thousand baht note while you are walking down the street in the dark, whatever you do, do not bend over to pick it up. 😀

I've never, in my 20 years on this forum, made any comments about Phuket and never considered moving there. You could do the same courtesy. For some reason, everyone feels the need to make comments about Pattaya on Pattaya threads.

I merely commented on my last visit there in 2019, I did not like it so I left, comments can be make by the tens of millions of tourists each year you know who bring in the real money to Thailand and is not just limited to the comparatively few farangs who live here but think they own the place.

Looking at the Phuket News section of this forum paints a pretty grim picture of the city you live in.

I got my opinion of Pattaya by going there, not by reading negative news used to sensationalise and sell advertising.

Where have you ever read, "a tourist had a bit of bother today but the other ten million had no problem at all and had a great holiday. "

That does not sell news.

It's a shame you don't have the bandwidth to realise that the same applies to Pattaya. I'll never understand why those that profess to enjoy the finer things in life never seek out those venues or experiences in Pattaya.
