A film that may have been suggested before on this thread that I watched cable some years back.

Clint Eastwood directed film called "Changeling". Based on a true story about a woman whos young son disappears and the subsequent events. Angelina Jolie stars. If you havent seen it, it is worth hunting down.

Many thanks for the heads up on this movie and I thought it was great. Normally I'm not a fan of Angelina Jolie, however I thought she was terrific in this movie.....all round it was a good "watch". Thanks again.

'The Pitt' and 'The Studio' win top TV honors at Golden Globes

The Pitt.jpg

LOS ANGELES, Jan 11 (Reuters) - HBO Max’s “The Pitt,” a medical drama which puts a spotlight on America’s strained emergency rooms, won best drama series at the Golden Globes on Sunday, while “The Studio,” a Hollywood satire from Apple TV, earned the award for best comedy.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/the-pitt-and-the-studio-win-top-tv-honors-at-golden-globes/ar-AA1U1iEp

Can somebody please try to explain the Studio to me? I've tried watching it and though I like Seth Rogen I found the characters to be obnoxious to the point of being unbearable and insufferable. I know it's supposed to be a comedy and a satire and I know it's supposed to be a spoof. But sometimes sitting with portrayals of completely obnoxious human beings for 30 or 40 minutes at a time, just isn't fun or funny or amusing. Am I missing something here? Why is it so incredibly popular?

I recently saw I swear, and though I tend not to enjoy films about people that are on the spectrum, this one was really well done, very heartfelt, well written, very funny, based on a true story, and quite a satisfying watch.

There's a nobody 2 also.

I think in general sequels are very difficult, and in this particular case the original was was fantastic and a total surprise, and I thought the sequel was horrendous.

Yellowstone was good enough should have let it stay ended.....meh to this.

Countless people are saying that it lacks the gravitas, pacing and entertainment quality of Yellowstone, which was extraordinary. Those two characters are pretty fantastic, so it's hard to imagine how you could screw something like that up.

I saw Old Henry again last night and it's a very good Western. Tim Blake Nelson is amazing, as usual, and Stephen Dorff plays a wonderful villain. Very well done by a director that I've never heard of, but pitch perfect pacing and a great soundtrack to boot. The last 30 or 40 minutes was quite an amazing ride.

I thought it was laugh out loud hilarious, but everyone has their own sense of humour.

I wonder how much costner factors into it. The 1 season spin off prequel with tim mcgraw was quite good. Wish they did more of that one.

As I get older and my hearing begins to fade, I need English sub-titles for most things. Does this Clint movie have them?

Oliver Twist, 1948. Directed by David Lean. The term human trafficking was not used back then, but toward the end of the film hearing words like “deliver the boy” brought it to mind. Putting Dickens into monochrome helps create a fitting way to present the 19th century IMO. Quite a distance from the singing & dancing version that came out around 1960.

https://tpb.proxyninja.org/description.php?id=81103070 Nearly every movie has subs, you just need to look for them included in the movie, either that or download the subs separately.

The streaming platforms should have a subtitle option. See Giddyups reply to your post. I watched it on ordinary cable tv without subs. Perhaps the poster "Xylophone" can recommend the best option for you to see/hear the film.

1883 was an absolutely golden masterpiece in my opinion, perhaps the single best season of TV in my lifetime. It ranks right up there with the first season of True Detective, the first season of Fargo and some of Deadwood and early Hell on Wheels. American Primeval gets honorable mention for not only it's grit and intensity but also what is likely the most accurate depiction of the murderous pimp Joseph Smith, ever committed to film or TV.

Agree but 1923 was complete pants that I gave up watching after the first few episodes.

1923 was absolutely awful and I have no idea how a team that was as successful as they were with 1883, can fail so miserably with something like 1923. Especially with that cast. And I hear Marshall's is even worse but I don't think Sheridan is involved with that project.

I like Chiwetel....this looks strange but good.

I've just finished watching seasons 1 & 2 of the House of David and enjoyed it. It was recommended by a mate of mine. Season 1 is on EZTV, TheRARBG, TPB & LimeTorrents and season 2 is on 1337x, TheRARBG & LimeTorrents.

Well when I watch them from a download, I usually get the download from 1337x.to or TPB and both of these platforms have varying options to be able to access them, although it's becoming more difficult as time goes on.

Getting back to the OP, when I found that my hearing was becoming a little suspect, I got a JBL sound bar, which is excellent and helped a lot, however it wasn't until a friend of mine lent me his Bluetooth headphones that my listening experience improved, so I have sold the sound bar and now use GRADO Bluetooth headphones, backed up with a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones in case the battery should run down in one of them I'm using at the time.

Sorry but that's about all the info I can give you on this.

PS. I had never considered Bluetooth headphones in the past, but now I wouldn't be without them!

Yes it does, on DVD and Blue Ray.

Following on from the movie recommended by @potless (Changeling) I came across something very similar on BBC iPlayer and although it was in three episodes, I decided to watch it and it was very good, and also very disturbing towards the end but I won't say anything else to give it away, however it was called: "I Know My First Name Is Steven" (TV Mini Series 1989). IMO, worth a watch, and a true story.

Also came across one which I had seen a few years ago starring Russell Crowe, called "Master and Commander...The Far Side of the World" so I decided to watch it again and was so glad I did because it is (IMO) an excellent movie and the scenes of the ships battling it out were just fabulous.

I need subtitles all the time even for my wife 😄

In VLC Media player only

..

Menu > View > VLsub.

Click on Search By Name.

Select the appropriate subtitles.

click on Download Selection button.

If the track is wrong slow or fast with the speech repeat above and select the next track down, saves all that searching and downloading subs that don't work correctly

Opensubtitles now have an AI version introduced, which does it all automatically for you, but is subscription based.

Have you seen a series called Hornblower? I think you might enjoy it. Available on TPB.
