I just saw the first two episodes, and it is good. It really gets better in the second episode so give it a chance.

I haven't started it yet but these reviews sound very promising. Season 1 was a classic for sure but if you want the exactly same thing, then rewatch it.

Each to their own, but didn't make it through the first episode.

There's a lot to watch these days, basically endless choices so it makes sense to not waste time on shows that don't click with us.

Already watched it all, my opinion stands.

Beef- it does pick up in the second episode, with new characters and plot lines.

Those 2 young ones who kept saying how muchn they loved each other every 5 minutes did it for me.

I usually don't watch a series twice, but I'm making an exception for Braque.

It is sensational.

On TPB with hard coded subs.

If only this was a real movie....

I enjoyed watching all 4 seasons of Braquo. Well worth a look IMHO.

It downloaded ok for me.

Seems that I can't get enough of Michael Caine these days although I have seen all of his movies in the past, however I was tempted to watch the "Ipcress File" after it appeared on BBC iPlayer, so I did and enjoyed it again.

Another old favourite showed up, called, "Planet of the Apes" which starred Mark Wahlberg amongst others and it's always been a movie I've liked to watch. One thing which I noticed this time round was how brilliant the prosthetics/make up were on the apes, something I have really appreciated before. IMO, a good movie.

Another offering on BBC iPlayer that I couldn't resist was, "Four Weddings and a Funeral" which IMO is a delightful movie and I still think so after all of these years........loved it!

Landing on BBC iPlayer tomorrow - Half Man. Supposedly quite a grim, gritty watch. From Richard Gadd who also wrote Baby Reindeer which was critically acclaimed (and is currently subject to a $170m lawsuit in the US).

Described as follows:-

The new series examines the dysfunctional and volatile relationship between two men growing up in Glasgow in the 1980s.

It begins on the wedding day of Niall (Jamie Bell) with the unexpected arrival of Reuben (Richard Gadd) who immediately punches him in the face.

Through flashbacks over six episodes, we learn why the two are so irredeemably attracted and repelled by one another.

Will also be shown on HBO in the US.

re: The Menu

Maybe I missed it, but I watched this movie a second time and still couldn't figure out the motivation behind what the chef's team does.

Wahlberg didn't need makeup to make him look like an ape 😄

Ipcress File is from a Len Deighton book. Another is Funeral in Berlin, which I also like. The character is supposed to be a more realistic UK intelligence guy: instead of James Bond and his fancy tastes and Aston-Martin, Palmer takes the bus to work and has to beg his boss for a salary advance so he can buy a car.

A good chaser for these would be "Spy Who Came in From the Cold," one of Burton's best IMO.

There is also a Harry Palmer prequel which is relatively recent, but can't figure out the name, Tom Hollander is in it.

Harsh call on Mark Wahlberg, whom I like as an actor and particularly liked him in the movie "Shooter"!!!

Recently watched funeral in Berlin which I also liked. Will give "Spy who came in from the Cold" a go, but I think it's not in colour.

Don’t ask me! 😂

I think this is on a dvd label ifc (midnight) they usually put out decent content - Maybe foreign language, usually quirky and my wife seemed to like it, so we gave it a watch. I just watched it the once - you are correct, it’s where there should be a reason for the chefs actions that gets revealed in the plot - but I don’t recall, sorry.

I've given up on new movies, Project Hail Mary a classic example of garbage, rated 8.3 on IMDb. Probably voted by Americans and under 18.

I've started using Gemini to recommend movies to watch, so far with very good results

Anyone having trouble (suddenly today) opening TPB (on Safari).?

I've had to use one of the proxy sites as I'm now not permitted to use my normal TPB site.

What did you do to deserve that?

Well, I suppose it's because sites like TPB offer illegal downloads, and unless you have a VPN, which I don't, you'll find that you can't access that site any longer. Same way that porn sites like Pornhub are no longer available. Fortunately there's plenty of other movie download sites available.

Huh, interesting, how did you find that out?

A friend told me.😉

I use real-debrid and pay $4 monthly and it seems to have lots of links to everything.

He's probably from the UK where ISPs have banned all the major torrent sites under government diktat.

Also the new Online Safety Act requires age verification for porn sites now. Bit pointless as kids probably know 100 ways to get around the restrictions.

Even this old fart knows how to get around it 😂

  1. Some big sites not blocked e.g. 1337x

  2. Plenty of proxy websites e.g. proxyninja for eztv

  3. Lots of VPNs that give free data e.g. Windscribe 10GB p/m

  4. Also browser extension VPN (even on Play Store) e.g. VeePN
