Yep

It was a cracker.

A series coming out in June.

Will be interesting to see how it compares.

The streaming platforms should have a subtitle option. See Giddyups reply to your post. I watched it on ordinary cable tv without subs. Perhaps the poster "Xylophone" can recommend the best option for you to see/hear the film.

Well when I watch them from a download, I usually get the download from 1337x.to or TPB and both of these platforms have varying options to be able to access them, although it's becoming more difficult as time goes on.

Getting back to the OP, when I found that my hearing was becoming a little suspect, I got a JBL sound bar, which is excellent and helped a lot, however it wasn't until a friend of mine lent me his Bluetooth headphones that my listening experience improved, so I have sold the sound bar and now use GRADO Bluetooth headphones, backed up with a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones in case the battery should run down in one of them I'm using at the time.

Useful info thanks. I ve had no internet for nearly 2 days thus a late response. I see that the poster Leopold Bloom has not responded. Oh well.

The original with Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck was pretty good as well.

Following on from my last post, I downloaded and watched a movie starring Nicolas Cage, called "Pig". I did see a few reviews which were very complimentary to Cage and his acting ability, but that didn't come through for me in the movie!

It is a very different kind of movie with no real action in it and I really didn't see the point in it, so at the end I got on the Internet to try to find out the "story" behind it, and I won't give it away here, but for me it still remained a pointless movie with no real story/thread running through it, although the critics would say that there was!

It seems we are all different in the way we look at movies, and long may it continue.

One movie I could have bought for my collection but didn't, although I might one day. Cage makes a lot of movies but most are B styles and action oriented. The last one I actually bought is Butcher's Crossing, which is okay. He's a character and fits his movies well.

One Nick Cage film I saw some years back called "Lord of War". Ita about an arms dealer. Watchable.

Thanks and I have seen that film, but after your "prompt" I may watch it again as I thought it was ok/good.

No, here I am. Many thanks to those who responded. Much appreciated.

When I am downloading from you-know-where I always check if there are subs available. If there's no mention of subs, I will usually download anyway, "just in case" (there are indeed subs there). Very rarely, I find. No mention = no subs!

It bothers me a little that my (Thai) wife can understand "mumbled" English perfectly. Whether Brit or American English.

PS: Nearly everything (no, Everything)) on BBC iPlayer comes with subs.

Maybe the bluetooth headphones that Xylophone suggested may work for you. Good luck.

There are a number of websites with databases of movie subtitles in multiple languages. OpenSubtitles (https://www.opensubtitles.com/) is just one of many.

Useful hint: in order to get your video player to recognize the subtitle file, name the subtitle file the same as your movie file, but the with an .srt extension.

Hope this helps.

A street-smart kid from Secondigliano's slums, Pietro commits petty crimes with friends while idolizing local boss Angelo 'A Sirena.

Getting close to his hero pulls him into dangerous water, leaving him torn between crime and his feelings.

Tried to stream Changeling but got A Working Man ( Jason Statham revenge killing movie ) on a couple of my usual sites.

Whatever !!, watched that instead, usual one man takes on the Russian mafia movie but still okay.

True story as well. Fun fact he was eventually captured in Thailand.

He was later repatriated to Russia in an exchange for wnba player Brittney Griner.

After that he was voted to the Legislative Assembly of Ulyanovsk Oblast in Russia, representing the Liberal Democratic Party.

Thanks for that. He certainly had an interesting life.

IMHO one of Nick Cages best movies is Matchstick Men. Worth a look if you haven't seen it.

Not on TPB. I too enjoyed the 1st series.

Found it under Top 100.

I watched "Pretty Lethal" and I enjoyed it. "It follows a group of ballerinas as they try to escape from a remote inn after their bus breaks down on the way to a dance competition."

It was silly and what not, but it beat the heck out of a lot I have watched. 6/10

It most certainly is on TPB. You might like to remove the "u" from neighbours when searching for it. It's an American series and they spell it neighbors.

Grace series six has started in the usual places

Arnold Judas Rimmer of Jupiter Mining Corporation Ship Red Dwarf

Watched another BBC iPlayer offering called, "Harriet" and thought it was good....about a female slave before the Civil War in the US, who escapes and returns to her place of slavery to lead many more slaves to freedom (a true story).

Ai Search for titles Program release......

I haven't put any links to this program which is out next month --because Its possible they will charge a small fee to join (maybe not) ---and I have nothing whatsoever to do with it, In fact I'm a computer blond and do not understand 80% of whats going on with Ai. " so I am not even posting the name of it"

I'm Posting it here (not the computer section) as so many people ask about subtitles--it may be of help. I am sure if your interested you can find it

Meet ##. The world's first AI media player by OpenSubtitles

Hi oxo1947,

You know the routine. Find a video. Search for subtitles. Download. Wrong version. Try again. Finally get one that syncs. Repeat tomorrow.

We built ### to end that cycle permanently.

Trained on our entire subtitle database, ### gives you the library you already rely on — built directly into the player. Press play on any video. Subtitles appear in seconds.

No searching. No downloading. No syncing. Completely automatic.

What ### does:

Scans our database to find and download the exact human subtitle that perfectly syncs to your video — or uses AI to generate one from scratch if no match is found

One-click translation into 200+ languages

AI dubbing — foreign films in your language with matched voices

Extract hardcoded subtitles burned into video

Video restoration — upscale to 4K, colorize, stabilize

Parental controls — nudity blurred, profanity muted, violence skipped automatically in any language

Local & Cloud AI modes — run completely offline using your device's hardware, or use our high-speed cloud servers

Works on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Smart TVs, PS5, Xbox, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, Kodi and more

Don't know if it has been mentioned already but I have just started watching a black comedy/mystery series from Australia called Deadloch. Only on episode one but it looks promising.
