It is sad that we have come to a point where people that fancy themselves upstanding citizens brag about circumventing the law.

re: The Menu

Maybe I missed it, but I watched this movie a second time and still couldn't figure out the motivation behind what the chef's team does.

Don’t ask me! 😂

I think this is on a dvd label ifc (midnight) they usually put out decent content - Maybe foreign language, usually quirky and my wife seemed to like it, so we gave it a watch. I just watched it the once - you are correct, it’s where there should be a reason for the chefs actions that gets revealed in the plot - but I don’t recall, sorry

The chef sums it all up with a single line. He feels exploited and says....

Thank you for dining with us tonight....you represent the ruin of my art....and my life.

He says this while addressing the attendees. A mix of a$%holes basically.

A good chaser for these would be "Spy Who Came in From the Cold," one of Burton's best IMO.

On your recommendation I did watch, "Spy Who Came in from the Cold" and I have to agree with you that it was great acting by Burton, but IMO the movie was a little confusing and I've no idea why both Burton and his female associate were killed at the end of the movie??

In relation to this I have checked out several "explanations", but none seem to provide a satisfactory answer!

Two casino workers discover they're both stealing from the same safe, entangling them with each other, the gangster they're robbing, and the police.

I am catching up on the first series of criminal record - I’m not sure how I missed it, well worth a watch.

I noticed a few shows returning in the next month or so, clarkesons farm, chestnut man, and sugar.

Well, ain't you asking the right question! One of Le Carre's final works involves "the Lemas case" being investigated in the 21st century, by a young person with no sense of the espionage chess game of that time. Not his best, perhaps written at the goading of his publisher; it happens, it's business, even Clint Eastwood admits he made one-too-many Dirty Harry movies.

I guess anybody born after 1980 might not have much of a sense of how The Cold War affected global perspective, and that the Berlin Wall was considered the physical symbol of the division. I think this is one of the things JLC is dealing with here. E.g. in Bridge of Spies the Rylance character, though a spy for the other side, is depicted as an otherwise likeable chap just doing his job -- be sure that no Hollywood producer would have gone anywhere near that idea before 1990.

Myself, I get these escape from East Berlin movie scenes confused.

Thanks for the heads-up about new series of The Chestnut Man & Sugar. I enjoyed season 1 of both series. Also IMHO anything with Colin Farrell in it is worth a look.

Well, I suppose it's because sites like TPB offer illegal downloads, and unless you have a VPN, which I don't, you'll find that you can't access that site any longer. Same way that porn sites like Pornhub are no longer available. Fortunately there's plenty of other movie download sites available.

Only blocked on Chrome, probably works in Opera.

They often block the popular browsers, not the website.

I only use TPB to download via Chrome (no VPN), and x337 to see what's newly available. Use TPB as I prefer 720p & subtitles (without downloading elsewhere).

Wokester alert. In real life, how many women are there who work in the field for MI6?

Especially, how many of either gender go around waving their piece as if they worked for the FBI (where women do indeed go around toting guns).

Excellent series — very binge worthy.
The plot of the Russians trying to install the nepo son of a billionaire real estate developer as the leader of a world power—feels like I’ve seen that movie somewhere before.
Thanks Will!

A skeptical mayor leads the superstitious residents of a cursed New England island.

This is getting some decent reviews.

A fiancée becomes a key witness after staying engaged to a man accused of murder to gather evidence against him in this documentary series.

Give this a thumbs up.👍

If you're a fan of strange and off-beat movies (raises hand 🫶) then this one if for you. The humor nails the absurdity of "modern" life.

I watched "Apex" and enjoyed it. Great mountain climbing and kayak footage.

Creepy enough bad guys, some holes and idiocy, but worth watching.

Great picture!

I see "The Sting" is on Netflix now, I don't think I've seen it since is came out, I'll have to see that again as well.
