What if marriage extension not approved?

Featured Replies

Current extension expires 10 th March. Normally the approval takes about 60 days. So what if they dont approve the extension and then its beginning of May..(my current extension date has already passed by then). Would i be on overstay or they are okay and give me x days to leave the country?

I have never seen nor heard of an instance where an extension based on marriage to a Thai national was not approved after getting the under consideration stamp, because your paperwork and your financials are vetted when you apply and pay the 1900 baht for the extension.

As was pointed out if by some strange reason which again I have never heard of your extension was not approved they would probably sell you a 7-Day get out of Thailand application for extension denied stamp and it would give you a week to get out.

Is it normal for extensions based on marriage to take 2 months ?

If you apply for an extension a month early, some offices add the 30 day under consideration stamp on too the end of your current extension expiration,<- because those offices the under consideration stamp is actually the first month of your next year extension, meaning you show up 2 months later.

When you apply prior to March 10 you will be given a date to return to immigration.

This is referred to as "under consideration period"

At that point you do not go into overstay.

Just return on the date advised for final stamp.

Thanks! Is it 30 days before expires they normally allow application?
