A Swedish man tragically lost his life in Rayong after crashing his motorcycle into a traffic guardrail while reportedly riding under the influence. The accident occurred on January 6, causing devastating consequences for the 47-year-old who had been preparing for a wedding with his Thai girlfriend.

Police from Klaeng Police Station investigated the accident at approximately 5pm. The incident took place on a curve in Klaeng district, involving the white Honda PCX that the Swedish national was riding. Officers found him with severe head injuries and a broken neck, lying 20 metres from his damaged motorcycle.

A security guard named Ariya, who witnessed the accident, informed police that the motorcyclist was travelling at speeds over 80 kilometres per hour. The crash unfolded when he lost control at a curve, causing a violent collision with a roadside guardrail. The motorcycle then spun and struck an electricity pole, with the rider’s head hitting it fatally.

Onn, the deceased’s Thai girlfriend, arrived at the scene distraught. She disclosed their plans to marry and revealed they had completed paperwork for her spouse visa. The couple had been planning a trip to Sweden in March. Onn mentioned that her partner had been drinking beer at their restaurant since the morning and insisted on riding home despite her warnings due to his intoxication.

Authorities suspect that intoxication was the leading cause of the accident, but they are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to confirm the details. This tragic incident serves as a clear example of the dangers of drinking and driving, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • A Swedish man died in a motorbike crash in Rayong linked to alcohol.

  • The couple planned to marry and visit Sweden in March.

  • Police review footage to confirm the suspected cause as intoxication.

Using tragically in that sentence doesn´t fit. being drunk and hitting a guardrail qualifies for the change to stupidly.

Confirms whats be repeated over and over, DUI kills. Luckily it was only the drunkard that killed himself, lets hope more of his likes takes the same curve ... at speed and with same outcome!

He made a very bad decision that cost him his life. The only consolation is that she wasn't on the back of the bike with him

My condolences to Onn. Such a sad story. Hope she has a great life after she gets over this sadness,
