Change sprocket for higher speed Dream/cub 110 cc?

Featured Replies

10 year old 110 cc Honda cub/dream. Would like "moore out of the gears" as its very slow and high revs even on 4 th gear at about 50 km/h.. What sprocket size is standard and which one is recommended for better top speed and lower revs?

Did some research and seems like its the smaller front sprocket that should be replaced?

sounds like could be under geared so the front sprocket is probably too small it should be easy enough to look online and establish how many teeth it should have, If it checks out ok then possibly the rear sprocket is too big,

Its Not beyond the realms of possibility that some local "mechanic" could have fitted the wrong parts, but you would have noticed the difference immediately Have you owned it since new ? and recently fitted a new chain and sprockets,

On the other hand it could be perfectly normal to rev as it does, if you can get up to around 85km/hr flat out its running just fine. Gearing it up from standard might well squeeze a couple of extra km/hr out of it but it will take significantly longer to get up to speed , and carrying a passenger will make things noticeably worse

Best to use the standard gearing Honda know best normally

What do you have now ?

The stock sprockets for a

2015 Honda Super Cub (C110/NBC110)are a14-toothfront sprocket and a36-toothrear sprocket

Thank you, good info! I thought smaller (less teeth) on the front sprocket would give higher speed?

Its stock now,so i guess less teeth on the sprocket for increase the speed?

I would ask in a specific super kub group when it comes to these small changes on small power bikes. If only flat terrain Yes it will give a little bit extra at the end, but not much is my best guess.

You add one on the front, or one less on the rear, and depending on the size of the sprockets, one in front equals 3 on the back. Did that to my 100cc in the old days, and enough to please me then, but now? Buy a bigger bike

no that would result in lower gearing ie higher revs for a given speed

A 15t front sprocket will give more speed and less torque, which is fine for riding on flats. Though the bikes are designed for balance of various road inclinations, is why most don’t fuss with swapping gears.

Right.

By gears do you mean sprockets.?

Smaller rear sprocket will also up top-end speed

and reduce torque.

OP give it a try.

Change both. 15/34

and get new chain.

Very inexpensive.

Can always change back if no likey.

Or like I said leave it to Honda, I thought it was only teenagers that messed about with stuff they don't really understand thinking they could improve one of the most successful motorcycles of all time ,

Why not go the whole hog fitting some racing handle bars and a noisy exhaust , lying "flat on the tank" would probably help a little too

If the OP really wants some inspiration I suggest checking out this guy "alan milliard" a unique and talented guy here's a clip of a 100cc v twin he made himself by joining 2 50cc honda engines together

and something a bit bigger

The guys a genius and British (obviously)

So by your logic

Alan Millard is a teenager.?

No, now that you have learnt how to produce (some) bold letters, its time that you learnt to read, and to understand the importance certain words have to the context of a sentence and to recognise those words

He clearly "understands what he is doing", and work involving the grafting of two engines together would be far too involved and complex to be considered "improvements"

By my logic you are an annoying troll, go away

Learned that in 1984.

Thanks for the clarification.?

& thanks for the name calling.

Ad hominum.

Bravo.!

It does?

"The Honda CD 110 Dream Deluxe features a 109.51 cc BS-VI engine, delivering 8.79 PS and 9.30 Nm of torque, with a top speed of 86 kmph"

That is 8.79 hp at 7500rpm so at 50kph it will be doing (50/86)x7500 = 4360rpm. So not high revs.

Are you sure you have selected 4th gear?

Changing to a 15T will reduce is by about 300rpm at 50kph. Not sure that is worth it.

Top speed in most situations is determine by horsepower and aerodynamics. By going to 15T you might get 92kph out of it if the aerodynamics allow.

Parts are cheap why not give it a try so long as you don't have any steep hills around you.

I was riding at 70 kph yesterday on my Wave and at 70 kph the RPM was 6750. I didn't check at 50 kph as for some reason I'm always either above or below that.

It is geared down a bit for uphill farm tracks.🤓
