A fire erupted on January 8 in the staff quarters of the “Nuphan Wisetsin” molam group in Khon Kaen, reportedly initiated by an overheated power bank. The incident occurred in Nong Tum subdistrict and was captured on video, showing the building engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the structure was unoccupied at the time.

The band's owner, Bannawitit, 58, explained that the fire was likely started by a power bank left charging on a mattress, which overheated and short-circuited. Loy, the room’s occupant, attempted to save his belongings but managed to retrieve only his car keys before the fire intensified. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to control the blaze, but the building suffered significant damage by their arrival.

Despite the destruction, the group plans to continue with scheduled performances. Rehearsals have resumed, and they are set to perform on January 10–11 at an event hosted by Thai singer Ble Patumrach. Authorities are investigating the fire's cause and stressing caution when using electrical devices.

In a similar incident, a power bank explosion caused a fire in Chachoengsao, nearly engulfing an entire house. High temperatures and a concrete structure were factors contributing to the fire. Police are emphasizing public safety and the careful use of electrical appliances to prevent future incidents, reported The Thaiger.
