Vietnam reaffirmed its intent to enhance cooperation with Venezuela under their Comprehensive Partnership, as stated by Pham Thu Hang, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman, at a press briefing on January 8. The statement comes amid queries about the impact of political changes in Venezuela on bilateral ties. Hang assured that Vietnam remains committed to nurturing these traditional relations.

The briefing also addressed concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement on January 7 about withdrawing from 66 international organizations and UN agencies. Hang highlighted Vietnam's continued support for multilateralism, stressing the critical role of entities such as the United Nations in addressing global challenges. She underlined Vietnam’s commitment to both multilateral institutions and the principles of the UN Charter and international law.

Moreover, the spokeswoman responded to inquiries about Vietnam’s perspective on the Middle East, particularly the situation in Yemen. Hang expressed that Vietnam is closely monitoring developments and urged all parties to practice restraint and avoid escalating tensions. She advocated for dialogue as a pathway to political solutions, aligning with international legal frameworks to foster regional and global stability.

Looking ahead, Vietnam intends to proactively engage in global and regional multilateral efforts while contributing to peace and development worldwide. The country remains ready to support initiatives that reinforce international law and multilateral cooperation. Vietnam's diplomatic efforts align with its broader strategy of maintaining peaceful and cooperative relationships globally, reported VN Express.
