A 53-year-old man was critically injured after being struck and trapped beneath a six-wheel lorry while cycling along Theparat Road in Samut Prakan on 8 January 2026. The collision occurred at around 11.30am on the inbound lanes near kilometre marker 16 in Bang Phli district, prompting an urgent rescue operation and the victim’s immediate transfer to hospital.

Police said the injured cyclist was pinned beneath the rear axle of the lorry, sustaining severe injuries that required rapid extrication by rescue workers. Emergency teams from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and Chularat 3 Inter Hospital provided first aid at the scene before transporting him for urgent treatment.

The incident took place near the entrance to a warehouse complex on Theparat Road, a busy arterial route serving industrial facilities in Bang Chalong subdistrict. Traffic police from Bang Phli Police Station were alerted to reports of a cyclist trapped under a heavy vehicle and attended the scene to secure the area and begin an investigation.

The injured man was identified as Mr Srijan Pengkhampha, aged 53, from Waritchaphum district in Sakon Nakhon province. He suffered serious trauma, with his lower body and hip area visibly twisted after being crushed against the lorry’s rear differential, according to rescue personnel.

A red bicycle belonging to the victim was found lodged beneath the lorry and was documented by officers as part of the investigation. Police prepared a preliminary scene diagram and escorted the lorry driver to Bang Phli Police Station for questioning.

Pol Lt Col Saphat Prakarnpitak, a traffic inspector at Bang Phli Police Station, said initial inquiries suggest the lorry was turning into the warehouse entrance at the time of the crash. He stated that the cyclist was travelling in the far-left lane and may not have been visible to the driver during the turn, leading to the collision.

Kaoded reported that authorities are continuing to question the driver in detail and are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to determine the precise cause of the accident. Investigators said the findings will be used to establish responsibility and any legal action.

Agreed but you fingered/singled out the truck driver first? As if it were natural?

If someone is at fault it is a 50/50 proposition, so I don't think asking about the truck driver first was such a big deal.

You think he has a vendetta against truck drivers or something?

No I just asked the question was the truck driver driving correctly.... and I would never finger a truck driver....
