Police in Khon Kaen arrested a 34-year-old college lecturer from Chanthaburi on 10 January 2026 after finding him using methamphetamine inside an abandoned house, seizing drugs and two firearms during the operation. The arrest followed complaints from local residents and resulted in four criminal charges being filed, with the suspect taken into custody for further legal proceedings.

The suspect, identified as Wuttichai, is an instructor at a college in Chanthaburi province. Police said he was apprehended in an abandoned house in Sila subdistrict, Mueang district, Khon Kaen, while allegedly consuming methamphetamine tablets. Officers seized four methamphetamine pills at the scene, along with a 9mm handgun with eight rounds of ammunition and a .380 calibre handgun with nine rounds.

According to police, the operation was launched after villagers reported suspicious behaviour involving drug use at the deserted property. Investigators and a narcotics suppression team from Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station moved in to inspect the site and found Wuttichai inside the house. He was immediately detained and the items were confiscated as evidence.

Pol Col Yotsawat Kaewsuebthanyanit, superintendent of Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, said the suspect had recently returned to Khon Kaen to visit his family. During the visit, he reportedly went to see friends in the area before entering the abandoned house, where residents later noticed suspicious activity and alerted authorities. Police confirmed that the arrest was made following these public complaints.

Officers stated that Wuttichai admitted to the offences during questioning. He now faces four charges: illegal possession of firearms and ammunition without a licence, carrying firearms and ammunition in a public place without valid reason, possession of methamphetamine, and use of methamphetamine. Police said all charges were formally recorded before the suspect was handed over to investigators.

Khoasod reported that authorities emphasised that the case highlights continued community cooperation in reporting drug-related activity. Police said the investigation is ongoing and that the suspect will be processed according to standard legal procedures. Further court action will proceed under Thai law, with evidence submitted by investigators to support the charges.
