Police in Khon Kaen are hunting a 32-year-old man after a video circulated online showing him violently assaulting his wife and their two-year-old son while intoxicated, leaving both victims injured. The incident caused widespread public concern, prompting immediate intervention by neighbours and authorities to ensure the safety of the mother and child. Local officials confirmed that legal action is now under way and that the suspect has fled the scene.

The case came to light after social media pages across Khon Kaen province shared disturbing footage of the man, identified as “Moss”, attacking his family inside their home. In the video, he is seen striking his wife before grabbing his two-year-old son by both legs, swinging the child back and forth and beating him as the child cried loudly. After placing the child on the ground, the man continued to kick and assault his wife repeatedly.

According to accounts shared online, the violence only stopped when an elderly neighbour intervened after being unable to tolerate the situation any longer. The woman entered the house to restrain the attacker and assist the victims, causing the suspect to flee the property. Both the wife and child sustained injuries across their bodies as a result of the assault.

On 12 January, Pol Col Theerathat Phongsuwan, Superintendent of Mancha Khiri Police Station, confirmed that police were aware of the incident and had taken action. He stated that local administrative officials had already gone to care for the injured mother and child before escorting them to file a formal complaint against Moss. Investigators have since launched a manhunt to locate the suspect and bring him to justice as quickly as possible.

Authorities said the priority is the safety of the victims and residents in the surrounding area. Police have not disclosed further details about the injuries or the suspect’s whereabouts but confirmed that the case is being pursued under the law. The footage remains under review as part of the investigation.

The case has intensified public discussion around domestic violence, particularly involving young children, and has led to calls for swift enforcement of existing legal protections. Officials reiterated that anyone witnessing similar incidents should report them immediately to prevent further harm.

Daily News reported that police are continuing efforts to track down the suspect, while social services remain involved in supporting the mother and child. Police found a hid out with drug paraphernalia scattered around, but he had escaped before their arrival. Further updates from police are expected once an arrest is made or additional legal steps are announced.
