Three people were injured after a late-night shooting erupted at a beer garden in Sam Phran district, Nakhon Pathom province, prompting police to order an immediate crackdown on those involved. The incident occurred in Moo 8, Om Yai subdistrict, and resulted in one person being seriously wounded and two others sustaining minor injuries. All three were taken by members of the public to Vichaivej Hospital for treatment.

The shooting took place shortly after midnight on 12 January, when police from Pho Kaew Police Station were alerted to gunfire at the venue. Officers, led by Pol Col Julaphon Meechamnarn, arrived at the scene with investigators to secure the area and begin evidence collection. They recovered eight spent cartridge cases, including two 11mm rounds and six 9mm rounds, which were retained for forensic examination.

Initial inquiries found that the confrontation stemmed from an earlier exchange of challenges on social media between two groups. By chance, the groups later encountered each other at the beer garden, where a verbal argument escalated into violence. Both sides allegedly drew firearms and opened fire, causing panic among patrons and nearby residents.

Police identified one of the suspects as the son of a former Om Yai municipal mayor and a 10-wheel lorry operator. Following the shooting, he fled the scene with an associate, prompting officers to review CCTV footage from the area. Investigators subsequently tracked down and arrested two suspects, identified as Mr Sophon and Mr Pasit.

Both men were found in possession of firearms, including 11mm and 9mm handguns. During questioning, they confessed to carrying out the shooting, according to police. They were charged with attempted murder and offences under Thailand’s Firearms Act before being handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.

Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police Commander Maj Gen Phithak Upphong said the case highlighted the dangers of online disputes spilling into real-world violence. He confirmed that police had identified all individuals involved from both groups and had ordered officers to arrest everyone connected to the incident. He stressed that all offenders would face prosecution in accordance with the law.

Daily News reported that investigators are continuing to gather evidence and trace any remaining suspects linked to the shooting. Police said further arrests are expected as the case develops and warned that strict measures would be taken to prevent similar incidents.
