When You Graduate From Sheep

Featured Replies

Not sure why you felt the need to post this here in this fashion.

I shall stay with my initial reaction.

Disgusted of Bangna

:o

When I read it on the BBC this morning, I laughed. Then I felt guilty about it, then thought 'screw it' and had another chuckle.

Face facts, some people die in funny ways. Has nobody here ever laughed at the Darwin Awards?

OK, you can now flame away at the 'heartless' Sir Burr.

How many of these accidents are going to happen before people realise keeping exotic animals as "pets" is a bloody stupid idea?

Know nothing about camels, but I know what can be mistaken for sexual behaviour in dogs is often nothing of the sort - it's dominance. The camel is about the age that dominant tendencies would come out.

This is a sad story.

Sad indeed.....not all love stories have happy endings.

I sorry to hear this news and pleased that nobody yet has said that the Camel was just humping her - opps just did. Sorry

Careful, I might get the hump!

One hump or two?

(it's not me.... blame the beer :o )

Personally, I think you guys are SICK! What is humorous about a woman being killed by an animal that is not a native dweller in its own environment? The lady died in odd circumstances from a beast that was not native to her country - and you think it's funny?

:o

What has where the animal originally came from got to do with it?

So, if she was savaged by a wombat, that would be different?

Camels have been in Australia since the 1840's and there are wild populations of them in Western Australia.

In fact, Australian camels are exported to Saudi Arabia as they are recognized as the best racing camels in the world.

As I've said before, I do feel slightly guilty about laughing, it's just that I can't help seeing the funny side of it, as a few other posters do too.

Besides, if Suegha is having a snigger, I know it's alright to too as he has the most moral fibre on this forum :o

Well shame on you both then. Bad, Suegha, bad!!!

Seriously, I agree with November Rain that 'exotic pets' are just not meant to be kept in captivity.

I once raised some baby kangaroos ( the mothers were killed in various circumstances), and the males were very naughty and aggressive as the 'juvenile' period set in.

How many gals on this forum can admit to kickboxing with a roo just to survive a morning gardening session?

Just like SB, when I first read the story my original thought was 'jeeeze that's tragic' ....... did that bring her back restored and healthy, I think not.

Making light of tragic situations is a self defence mechanism, some people have it, some don't....... most Brits do, because we have really really needed it over the years. But if you don't understand it now, you never will.

Ok - so my point is that animals in their native environment have a certain survival instinct. If they don't have it - the species will perish!

Said camel was a tad confused, I suppose?

I'm Brian, he's Brian@! :o

By your logic all dogs and cats should be banned because they are exotic and not native. In Australia we should all keep kangaroos, wambats, and brown snakes because they are native and therefore ok?

Here in Thailand we should ditch the soi dogs and keep Tigers, King Cobras, and Buffalo. yeah right.

I am waiting for someone to come back with the line "yeah but dogs and cats have been domesticated for thousands of years" I will reply with "and when did camels get domesticated".

Last up I will direct people to the site that has the death and injury rate for animal attacks - wanna guess which animal is on top of the list.

The fact that the woman was killed by a camel is sad and a tragedy for her family, but what about the kid that had her face torn off by a pet jack russell or the kid that was killed by the family Rotweiller?

Lastly as Thaddeus wrote, humour is a defence mechanism design to help survivors cope. You may describe it as sick or perverted but the so named "gallows humour" is an important part of our ability to survive. We are not making fun of the woman who died we are making fun of the "jeeze what if that was me?"

Firstly - a 'wambat' is not a wombat and ...

1) I am allowed the occasional typo but thanks for taking the time to point it out. Doesn't change the point being made nor did you add anything of your own to it.

2) Which part of "jeeze what IF that was me" do you find difficult to understand? Lastly I am pleased I did not have to survive the camel's thingy.

CB

Blah blah!!! :D

and therein lies the summary of your post.
