Two young siblings, aged seven and six, were rescued from alleged long-term abuse in Nakhon Phanom yesterday after their teenage sister recorded and reported the mistreatment. The operation occurred around 10 am in Na Wa municipality, where the siblings lived with their aunt while their parents worked abroad. The Be One Foundation, in coordination with local authorities, swiftly removed the children from the home.

The children’s aunt, 33-year-old Suda, admitted to disciplining the children physically, claiming it was punishment for disobedience and academic struggles. The case was brought to light by the children's 17-year-old sister, who secretly filmed the abuse. She reported the younger girl enduring harsh treatment, like being dragged across cold tiled floors and forced into long hours of schoolwork under threat of beating.

Allegations also surfaced against the aunt’s husband, who reportedly exposed himself to the teenager during a video call, offering her money to watch. Chalida Palamat of the Be One Foundation highlighted this as a reminder of how domestic abuse often remains hidden due to fear or stigma. She encouraged community support for whistleblowers.

Suda denied receiving 15,000 baht monthly for the children's care, asserting that funds sent by their mother and grandmother went towards debt repayment. Neighbors, who had observed the children's withdrawn behavior for years, expressed relief at the intervention but admitted fear had prevented them from acting sooner.

The siblings are now under social welfare protection, which will oversee their psychological recovery and pursue legal action against those responsible. This incident follows a December case where the Be One Foundation rescued another abused child in Bangkok, reported The Thaiger.
