The Buriram Marathon 2026 is scheduled to take place on 24 January 2026, marking the event’s 10th anniversary and returning with one of its most ambitious editions to date. The race will start at Chang International Circuit and finish at Chang Arena in Buriram Province, reinforcing the event’s standing as a major fixture on Thailand’s sporting calendar.

Organised with support from Chang Natural Mineral Water, the marathon will offer total prize money of more than 10 million baht. Organisers say this level of investment reflects the scale of the anniversary edition and the continued growth of the event among domestic and international runners.

The Buriram Marathon has developed rapidly since its launch, becoming one of Thailand’s most recognisable and professionally run road races. It is certified by World Athletics, a status that confirms compliance with international standards for course measurement, organisation and athlete safety.

Four race categories will be staged at the 2026 event, comprising the full marathon over 42.195 kilometres, the half marathon over 21.1 kilometres, the mini marathon over 10 kilometres and a 4.5 kilometre fun run. This format is designed to accommodate elite competitors, recreational runners and families within a single programme.

In recent years, the marathon has consistently attracted more than 30,000 participants, making it one of the largest running events in the country. Its night-run format and use of landmark venues have also contributed to its profile, combining competitive racing with large-scale event logistics.

For the 10th anniversary, organisers had introduced expanded registration options, including on-site registration in Bangkok. Additional commemorative rewards and special prizes have also been announced for participants, aimed at marking the milestone year.

Local authorities and tourism stakeholders in Buriram Province expect the event to generate significant visitor numbers. The influx of runners and spectators is anticipated to support hotels, restaurants and transport services during the race weekend.

Preparations are now underway across the province as organisers finalise operational plans for the weekend. With international certification in place and enhanced participation options, the 2026 Buriram Marathon has attracted runners from all over Thailand and abroad.
