Regardless of the clearly painted Pedestrian Crossing with signage; what is any driver doing not allowing a pedestrian who is standing in the middle of the road to safely cross. RIP little one.

Depending upon the sun's angle, and the profile of the object in the road, the object can be missed. How tall is a 6 year old? If the child was small and wearing neutral clothing, she could have blended in with the road surface. None of the people calling for the stiff punishment of the driver, knows the full details of the event.

I do appreciate that Thai drivers are often selfish and pay no heed to crosswalks or traffic lights. However, keep in mind what happens if someone does stop: They can get rear ended or abused by other drivers. Not an excuse, but in a country where there is no consistent traffic law enforcement, this is the result.

So what ? The damage to the car indicates quite a speed at impact. A 6 year old is veey small so to do that kind of damage the car must have been travelling quite fast. Knowing the route is irrelev

the alleged driver is a teacher herself and should know there would be children at/on/near the school she was passing. Just look at the damage to her vehicle and the 'stopping distance from the point of impact' (i would guess 50 metres), making her speed at about 80kmph. The whole purpose of a Pedestrian Crossings livery is to give contrast to moving persons against the grey road surface. There is no excuse IMO.
