Claims of ‘Quantum Mind’ Healing Draw Scrutiny in Northeast

Crowds of patients have gathered to attend sessions promoting so-called “quantum mind” healing, raising concerns among residents and prompting calls for official investigation. The activities are linked to the wife of a deputy provincial governor and have attracted people with a wide range of illnesses seeking relief. Critics warn the claims could pose risks to public health if left unchecked.

Complaints were reported on 24 January by residents in Udon Thani, who alleged that the wife of a deputy governor in the upper northeastern region was involved in activities claiming to heal illnesses through “quantum psychic power”. The concerns focused on public sessions that appeared to draw large numbers of vulnerable patients. Residents urged the media and authorities to look into the matter.

Reporters later travelled to Phon Sa municipality in Tha Bo district, Nong Khai province, where the sessions were being held. They found Wannawilai Kanphet, the wife of Nong Khai deputy governor Chamlak Kanphet, together with a group described as “instructors” from Bangkok. The group was conducting what it called treatment or training sessions in a meeting hall filled with patients.

Those attending included people who said they could not walk, patients suffering from diabetes-related foot ulcers, limb weakness, visual impairment and other conditions. Many participants appeared to be seeking alternatives after conventional medical options had not met their expectations. The scale of attendance intensified concerns among local residents.

Wannawilai told reporters that the activities were intended to help patients using “quantum mind power”, combined with the burning of incense. She described the incense practice as an ancient method involving “supernatural energy”. She also claimed that some ailments beyond the ability of conventional medicine could improve through the sessions.

As part of the demonstration, she pointed to incense sticks that she said changed colour as “negative elements” left the body. She later stressed that the activities should not be described as medical treatment. Instead, she said they were “training” sessions to rebalance the body by combining concepts of magnetic fields with mental focus.

Wannawilai added that research was under way and that data were being collected. She insisted the approach should be studied further before conclusions were drawn. When asked to compare the sessions with previous controversial spiritual healing cases, she rejected the comparison and declined further comment.

Khoasod reported that residents have called on higher authorities and relevant agencies to examine whether the activities breach medical or legal standards. They warned that the issue could escalate if action is not taken. Officials have not yet announced whether a formal investigation will be launched.

Key Takeaways

• Crowds attended “quantum mind” healing sessions linked to a deputy governor’s wife in the northeast.

• The organiser denied offering medical treatment, describing the sessions as non-medical “training”.

Check or no check, will not make them more ill. The fact is, that they will still be same ill, with or without quantum mind healing.
