A Thai soldier has been charged after shooting at the brother-in-law of a social media influencer in Udon Thani, following allegations of adultery. Soraya “Aum” Upaiprom, a prominent influencer, brought the incident to light to protect her family and seek justice. The shooting occurred on January 25, and the soldier now faces arrest warrants for trespassing and attempted murder.

The conflict began months earlier, with the first incident captured on CCTV in June. The soldier was seen trespassing into Aum's family home with a gun. Despite police reports and interventions by a senior officer, the threats continued, culminating in the shooting incident on Sunday. The soldier accused Aum's brother-in-law, Jack, of having an affair with his wife, leading to the violent confrontation.

After the footage went viral, authorities acted swiftly. Mueang Udon Thani Police Station opened an investigation, and the suspect later surrendered, admitting to the shooting but citing personal reasons. The soldier insisted that Jack's alleged affair prompted his actions, though both Jack and the soldier's wife denied the accusations.

The incident has reverberated widely, leading to the soldier being removed from government service by the Royal Thai Army. Legal proceedings are currently underway, and further disciplinary actions are pending as authorities continue their investigation, reported The Thaiger.
